Screen door lock for dogs

Anyone ever put a better latch on the screen door to keep the dog from knocking it open. The one that is stock isn't up to the task or the paw of a 80 lb puppy.

Thanks
Dan

I put a screen door deadbolt on all my units for both kids and dogs. I also put an animal screen on the lower portion that I picked up from Lowes to protect the screen.

Works well on both. You simply reach in though the pass through to unlock.

We put a residential screen door type of latch on our first tt. If I remember right it only involved a couple of screws into the edge of the door. so that when you twisted the knob it moved a sliding bolt out to stop the door from openning.
We also put a piece of plastic lattice on the inside to protect the screen and stop the dogs from exiting through it. Held the lattice on with self sticking velcro tabs.

On my Skylark, the screen latch barely made contact and would pop open if anone even touched the door. I removed the strike and added a 1/16" shim. Now you actually have to move the handle to unlatch the door. It latches automatically when you close it.
