Securing a fresh water tank...
Finally, we have a fresh water tank again.
This past November, it fell off, along the highway, unbeknownst to us.
Cost of new tank, which had to be manufactured, via Jayco: $450.
Cost to ship tank to local RV dealer: $160.
Cost to install new tank: About $300.
Total: About $910.
Cost of two metal straps to secure new tank: $10.
If I had known there was a risk of the tank falling off, when one of the two steel rails that holds it on came loose, I would have installed the straps years ago.
I do not know if RVs typically have straps that secure the fresh water tank to the belly of the vehicle. But they should.
Our RV is a 2017 Jayco Melbourne 24M.
