Self-Opening Door Problem

Our Eagle's "front" door, actually at the rear entering the living area, pops open by design, but it's fixed to the door frame with a mickey mouse fixture that already wiggles a bit. I make sure I grab it before it jerks back, but DW has difficulty with that trick and it sometimes gets away from her. Why on earth they'd build it this way is beyond me. I happened to see one at a CW dealership a couple weeks ago and went into it for kicks. Guess what? They had removed the closer/opener so it wouldn't be ruined before they even got it sold. Has anyone found a better solution to the problem?
