Service times?

We have about 5,000 miles on our 2016 Jayco WhiteHawk 24 RKS. We drove across a good part of the USA this summer. When should I repack the wheel bearings and service the breaks? Should I rotate the tires? Some web sites say yes some say no unless you spot a wear pattern problem.

I was reading posts from here before I became a member. These were to do with Jayco quality. My opinion Jayco is no worse nor any better than other manufactures. I have owned 4 different camp trailers and all were different manufacturers (not only different brand, but different manufactures) I have found the great and bad in all of them. I have never been disappointed in buying the Jayco except the nearest service center is 2 1/2 hours away. Think twice about buying from a business who comes into town sells campers at the fairgrounds, and doesn't repair campers when they return the next year. This in not Jayco's fault it is the dealer that sold the unit who is at fault.

Many folks "forget" to pack their bearings and roll on old tires just fine. How? I have no idea.

On the other hand, We tow about 5000-6000 miles a year. Year one, had the bearings serviced/greased. Year two, packed. When they are packed, the brakes are inspected too. The difference in cost was about $150. I absolutely hate roadside breakdowns.

If tires have uneven wear, there may be a bigger problem than just the tires. Brakes, bearings, or axle issues to name a few.

It's the heat/cold cycles (and time) that kills tires. Tread depth is a false indicator of a good tire. Properly inflated and operated within their specific Load and Speed Ratings will get most tires to their 3rd year.

Dexter axle recommends a repack at 12000 miles, or once a year, whichever comes first. Dexter Axle's website has a video for maintenance. I've never rotated tires, but wouldn't be a bad idea if there's more wear on front or back axle.

Thanks I even repack the boat trailer bearings and utility trailer bearings. I had a tread separation on the 15" utility trailer tires. Need new ones for that, but I think they are 12 years old or more. There was a very light load to the landfill, found it when I got home.

I have to admit that on our old fiver (24ft, 7000lb) I only had the bearings done once in 7 years and 30k miles. Adjusted brakes once. 3 sets of tires.

Our current trailer I'll have done more often, probably every 10k miles.
