Sewer flush

Hi

New trailer owner here. 2015 Jayflight SLX 26'.
I can't seem to get any water through either the grey or black water tanks.

I unhooked the down stream side of the vacuum breaker check valve, apply water pressure and I get flow.

Is there another check valve in the system?

I'm not understanding what you are asking. Do you have water running through the lines to fixtures when hooked to a city water connection? How about when pumping from the fresh water tank?

Did this problem just start or has it always been present?

A bit more info is needed for anyone to be able to assist you.

Sorry.
My problem is only when hooked up to the sewer flush fitting. I get no flushing water through either tank after dumping.
The vacuum breaker check valve is working properly.
Is there another check valve down stream of the vacuum breaker?

Make sure you're hose is on the black tank flush inlet. I inadvertently hooked mine up to the winterizing valve once and had same issue. Just a thought

Here is 2015 Jayflight Owner's Manual just in case you didn't already have it. See chapter 8. Sorry, I'm not as familiar as others are for your camper.

Are you the original owner of the camper? I eliminated my vacuum breaker and installed a city water Inlet with a built in check valve. The inlets look identical except for the internal check valve. Several others here have done the same due to the continued failures of the vacuum breaker. Pull the cone shaped screen out of the black tank flush Inlet and see if there is a check valve behind it...

I would bet most of us have done this or something like it in the past. I admit one time I accidentally attached my freshwater hose to the black tank flush port.

To help me remember NOT to do this again, a bought 4" square "Skull & Crossbones" decal and applied it right next to my black water flush port. Now I see it and remember every time I'm attaching a hose to the trailer.

I still have the factory decals on the side of the trailer for the sewer flush and city water connection. So I haven't hooked up to the wrong fitting.
The flush fitting does not incorporate a check valve as I've had the inlet screen out and can run a wire through to the vacuum breaker 18" down stream.
I have disconnected the down stream side of the vacuum breaker and can get water flow through the vacuum breaker.
I believe that my problem is down stream towards the tank{s}. I'm not sure if the sewer flush is supposed to be connected to both tanks or just the black tank but I get no flow when either or both dump valves are open.

I have the manual but find it not very accurate or detailed enough for myself.

For example " The fresh water tank can be gravity filled or pressure filled using the fresh water inlet [called city water].
This took me a while to figure out was BS.

Not sure what I'm missing and I can't seem to find a detailed schematic of my system.

My owner's manual is generic to say the least. Not very helpful for detailed information about your specific RV, they try to cover it all which only adds confusion.

As far as I know only black tanks have the flush system.

The sewer flush only goes to the black tank. You stated that the water is getting passed the vacuum breaker but not into the tank. Could be clogged at the sprayer as it enters the tank. Hopefully the water isn't going somewhere else. When I use my flush, I can clearly hear the water going into the tank. Also, I did what member Marcm did and took the vacuum breaker out of the equation.

I'm thinking that this might be the case as I don't believe there would be another check valve in the system.
I have a skirt under the trailer and finding a layout break down of how the tank[s] are situated has been fruitless.
I'm a lazy old mechanic that doesn't want to take the whole skirt off.
Too busy in retirement fishing, hunting & golfing.

First time I had that problem, I just took enough to get my head and a flashlight in there to plan where I had to remove to access the spot, Another is a little remote camera.

My black tank flush hasn't worked since my trailer was about 2 years old. I dropped the underbelly and removed the spray valve from the black tank. It was clogged with (what you'd expect it to be plugged with). I cleaned it out and reinstalled it. It worked . . . TWICE! After that - nothing! I bought one of those Camco toilet wands with the spinner on the end. I've found it works much better than the built-in, stationary valve ever did. I just run my garden hose through the trailer door, hook it up to the wand, and stick the wand down the toilet into the black tank.

You may want to forget about the built-in tank flush and just purchase a wand like I did.

Hi Everyone. I don't want to ruffle anyones feathers here as I value all of the great advice and input on the many issues that come up. However some of you have commented that you have removed your back flow preventer (AKA, check valve or vacuum breaker}. As a certified Back Flow Prevention Specialist with the CWWA as well as a certified and registered building official with the Province of Ontario you need to know that that device is there for a purpose. It is there to prevent back siphonage should, even if remote, it occur. As an example, should there be a need for a fire truck to hook up to the city, camp or other shared water system and start drawing water through the fire truck pumps it is highly likely that a back siphonage situation could occur. Which means that sanitary sewage could be pulled back into the potable water system and contaminate the entire system and endanger human and other life. If your black tank flush is not working I agree with another poster and just get a spray wand. Here in Ontario it is required that a back flow prevention device be installed on every out door hose bib or an interior hose bib used for such things as washing vehicles etc. Additionally all commercial, institutional and industrial building must have full building isolation protection on the water system.
