Sewer odor in bathroom pls read description

2016 Precept
have a sewer gas smell from behind the toilet.
Thought it was the seal between the bowl and pedestal -(there have been recalls for seals failing.

Dealer replaced the unit with abrand new toilet.
Toilet has not even been used once but odor prevails.
Heres the important details.

NOT coming from the bowl, the seal holds water.
NOT coming from the roof vent. Happens if vent open or closed, fan on or off
NOT the trap in the sink
NOT the AAV under the sink
NOT coming from the floor seal

Coming from inside the void in the rear of the toilet.
Shouldn't really be happening to a BRAND NEW toilet should it??

I 'm thinking of just taping plastic over the whole opening until I can holler back at the dealer.

Anyone one else have any luck solving this?

Did the dealer check the flange and pipe connecting it to the tank? We had one that was cracked and that was our odor source.

I'm trying to envision that,
... if that were the case, would the odor come from where the pedestal bolts to the floor?

Yes, under where the pedestal bolts to the floor is the flange and pipe that Grumpy is referring to...

Hopefully you find the problem soon.
You might like to watch this video too. Why does your tank smell so bad to begin with? https://youtu.be/RgCK_wV7TLI
