Good grief! Sounds like something Camping World would pull!

$66 for a tire pressure check? When my kids complained as teens about the cost of something they wanted, I'd tell them, "The only thing free is air." Guess that is no longer the case.

I think that dealer should be announced and given all the lip service they deserve!!!!!!!!!!! I truly would not want to stop there in my travels. That is only my opinion, but it is something I learned from being in business for about 20 years. Just saying.

Yes! Open just a repair shop! I purchased a used RV (not from the dealer) and the toilet valve was leaking, tried to get in to get it repaired since I had no clue what to do. The dealer told me they were booking in August. Thank god for youtube!

That's also why I don't take my car to a dealership for service unless it's warranty work.
Have you ever really LOOKED at those bills?
My wife got charged $89 one time for a "Radiator Fresh up".
When she got home and I saw that on the bill I went back to the dealer with her and asked what a "Radiator Fresh up" was? The service manager told me they take a high pressure air hose and blow the accumulated bugs and trash out of the radiator. For $89? Seriously? Since they hadn't verbally asked my wife if she wanted this service - just slipped it on a ticket she signed - I had them take it off.
I've also routinely questioned "Shop fees" - I asked them to detail the materials that are covered with these fees and when they can't I ask them to take them off.
I've also discovered that when they clean and lubricate your accelerator linkages (as an example), which is recommended at certain mileages - they charge you for an entire can of lubricant even though they only use a squirt of two out of an existing can. I ask them to leave the rest of the can in the trunk (since I'm paying for it) and that I expect it to be a new can and mostly full. They usually take that charge off instead.
Service Managers don't like me very much.
But I've always done business with small family owned RV dealers and rarely have problems like I've had with car dealers. I left my most recent RV dealer because a family business sold out to a national chain.
The biggest problem we have in the RV industry is a severe shortage of trained, certified and experienced mechanics. My current dealer is short staffed because there is just nobody to hire at any price.

As soon as you said "large chain", I knew you were talking Camping World. They are spreading like a rash up here in NC. I tried to deal on a TT, but they wouldn't budge.
Just looking at the service department at the dealership near us signaled that any kind of service visit would be a hassle. A crowded mess every time I went in there (and this was Nov-Feb).
My dealer is small and service oriented. As frequently posted on this forum...a good dealer/service dept. is the key to happy RV ownership.

I'd take my own air compressor and check them in their shop

It's ironic, Campers World was a really nice place, and did good work BEFORE they started selling RV's. Now, it seems like their main focus is getting units out the door.
Customer service is no longer a priority with them... Really very sad!

Crooks with pens have always been able to steal more than crooks with guns.
