Shocked at pricing at the Early RV show

My wife and I went to the RV show today and I was absolutely shocked at the price of the same trailer that I have. The show price was almost $33,000 with the regular price over $39,000. When I purchased mine 4 years ago at the RV show, it was priced at just over $23,000 with the regular price under $26,000. Other than the skylight in the washroom and the exterior colour. It was essentially the same. We were looking at motorhomes and we are looking at over $100,000 if we want to get one.I love camping but not paying that amount. We actually saw one listed at $484,000!! That is insane....

Wife & I went to our first RV show this week. Of course, wanted to see new RVs, but primary reason was to see what sort of accessories were out there. There were more RVs than I could climb into. By the end of the day, my legs were like jelly from going up so many steps.Very disappointed in the virtual "zero" vendors showing accessories.

But with so many RVs, there were no X213s. I was curious what they might be costing new. I must say, I'm as stunned as you BCx213. 39K is crazy high.

I've never seen a "show" price match what you can order or get one off the lot for. I've always gotten 35-38% off of retail, and that's off factory retail. I say factory retail only because some dealers fabricate their own msrp. Crappy to do so, but so are the dealers that do it. I guess at shows you get a share of people new to the game that bite. I just go to look and see what's on the market.

The big jump in prices at the RV shows up here in Canada is completely due to the fact our dollar has lost so much ground against the US greenback. Like the original poster I bought my trailer back when the Canadian dollar was at or near parity with the US. I bought my trailer new in the US then (2011) and could probably sell it used today for what I paid for it new. We wont be shopping for a new trailer until the Canadian dollar recovers because anything made in the USA is crazy expensive up here right now.

A while back we looked at a trailer that the wife and I really liked on the dealer lot. A few weeks later the same dealer had a RV show at another place and we went to that. The same trailer that we liked was $4000.00 more expense. So I think that prices go up even tho it is the same trailer. Makes no sense to me.

Yes glad we bought in 2013 when dollar was near par. Would not be paying todays prices, same size Eagle at the show was about 61000.00 and the 27 or 29 was 47000.00 or 51000.00. I am sure you could deal them down but still very high.

Good point. I was just at the Calgary RV show and thought the prices were all pretty high but I wasn't really paying attention as we aren't shopping for a new trailer but I do notice the weak dollar on many other things.

Cheers

I purchased a new Precept 35UN in September for 79,000, it listed for 134,000. Bought it online, I went to the Hershey RV show but there were no deals anywhere close to what I paid.

C$33,000 = US$24,083 at today's exchange rate. Not too far off what you paid if the dollar was at or near parity then.

I've always wondered how a show price could be cheaper. The dealer has to pay for the space, pay to haul the trailers in and out (or at least fuel) and pay for any display they have there. They have to cover that cost some place.
