Is now the time to regulate the Rv industry?

Now is not the time to regulate it, YEARS AGO was the time to start regulating it.
Knock on wood, our Northpoint isn't one of those that have tons of issues and MAJOR ones at that. Yes, it is part of the suspension recall, and we've had a few minor issues, but nothing like our previous other brand we had. That was a total junker.
I see on some new unit stickers there is a RVIA charge. For as many issues that we hear people have and the nightmares that some have, to me it sounds like RVIA isn't doing their job regulating their industry like they say they do.

With the new plethora of new Executive orders on the people... I think it is a good time... Fits right in.

Not right now there is too much turmoil with COViD and more pressing issues in this country. Also as I and others have said, there are many more happy owners than those with problems. You want prices to sky rocket than go for it.

Don't forget JAYCO has an arbitration source on their web-site that no one seems to ever mention using to settle their issues. WHY NOT?

This question is moot in most all states. The Magnusion-Moss also covers those states that exclude an RV from the “Lemon Law”. Check on line for lemon law lawyer in your area and you will fine many.

I used a lemon law lawyer with one RV and was compensated by the RV manufacturer.

And regulation and lemon law are two different animals.

Actually I have reached out to them and I will keep you posted. It’s going to be a long process is my understanding.

RVIA is an industry advocate, not consumer. As far as I can recall that last statement was not there a few years ago ("few" being subjective. It may have been 10 years since I last looked).

If a minority of an minority is complaining, it still is a minority. On this forum we are talking about a minority. Other RV forums relates to other manufactures.
The RV industry can surely improve their quality, the other side of the coin: Buyer do your research. Learn skills related to RV's, otherwise your RV will be a money pit. Remember it is a bouncing box on the road.

Definitely Grumpy! The corporate dealers only sees $$, while some smaller local dealers like to have you as a customer. The world has all kinds of people, I noticed during PDI's and also noticed many none DIYers.

True is even with cars and many other larger purchase items. The auto industry is certainly tighter and has more protections, but I've found that the sales people are a direct reflection on how the rest of the company is going to treat you after the transaction.

Smile Learning as I go

Love this forum. It’s great input here. I’ve already learned a few things by just opening a poll. I often find great information in a thread, especially when it stays on topic. I appreciate the comments, without anyone taking the low road. I also want to clarify, I know this is a Jayco forum, but this question was across the board and not a specific make or company. Thus far it has been a courteous discussion and I thank you all for that. Keep the comments coming, and Grumpy thanks again for being so active throughout the forum.
