Shower knobs

I am sure this has been asked before but couldnt find it. The shower faucet, why is it that the sprayer connects to the top of it ? I am sure there is a reason.

Probably so there's a straight shot up to the shower head, instead of it being looped up. Our tub faucet has the shower hose on the top, and the outside shower comes out the top also. Inside the (common) faucets is a diverter tee like this that connects to the hot and cold cartridges, and the threaded part for the shower hose.

I took mine apart and reversed it. I didn't like the shower hose connected to the top. Its a very simple process to remove the assembly and turn it around. Just have to change the "H" and "C" inserts when done so hot and cold are labeled correctly. I had to do a bit of resealing and clean up because the shape of my fixture was not square.

They are install both ways. The toy hauler was on the bottom and the Greyhawk is on the top. No real rhyme or reason.

X-2 I've had them both ways in multiple rigs.
