Sink Cover/ Cutting Board

We just purchased a 2013 Jayco 197 last week. One of the things I noticed that was missing was the sink cover. Our sink is the double bowl 60/40 type. I contacted the dealer about this and they said the cover does not come in this model. The 2013 model year brochure shows this cover being a one piece cover and is in the pictures. I contacted Jayco and they will not sell it to me direct. This is frustrating. The dealer doesn't care and is pushing the universal cover they sell on their shelf. Does anyone know where I can get one? Everywhere I've checked on the Internet they are unavailable.

Ideas?

Hopefully you can find a exact one used...

On my POPUP which the sink is probably alot smaller than yours I picked up a cutting board from LOWES and mounted four rubber feet in the four corners. It sits up just fine covering the whole top of the sink. I also cut out a small notch where the sink faucet is...

Our dealer suggested this and yes, he said he didn't have a cover to fit and neither did Jayco. We have a 2012 19H Jayco, don't know if you have the same double sink but this is his suggestion and we haven't done it yet, but here it is:

Make a template of sink cover size with cardboard. Then buy Lexon or plexiglas and use the template to cut to size.

Why don't you post the dealer's name here and potential buyers can stay away from them. Call the Jayco factory number and explain your problem to them, bypass the problem dealer.

Our new 2012 has sink covers to match the Corian counter tops but our last trailer had no sink cover. I got some heavy craft paperboard and made 2 templates and took them to TAP plastics and had them make the covers. They did a great job, finger holes and beveled the edges and the whole thing looked like it came from the factory that way. They had a white cutting board material that they used.

I bought my 2012 new, it didn't have sink covers but I thought it should. Initially the dealer said no, this TT didn't come with them. I showed them on the Jayco brochure where it said the 60-40 sink with cover was a standard. The dealer called Jayco and had them drop shipped directly to my house. Took about a month to get them, but they finally came.

Now, after a year with the trailer, we never have the sink covers on while camping. The are only on when in storage and traveling.

Our 2011 Jayco didn't come with sink covers either. We also have the 60/40 split and in a Bisque color. Was there a sticker inside your sink? Are you sure it is a one piece? Ours was a two piece cover.

On the underside back of the sink is a sticker with your model number. It was a pain to get to for me but I took pictures with my phone. It was time consuming. Most likely is the same one in our Jay Flight. Here is the info from my sink, contact number, and cost of the covers I pd last summer.

Here is the Sink Cover information.

Duro-Form Plastics
69836 Kraus Rd
Edwardsburg, MI 49112
Phone: 269-663-8525

I spoke to Shelly. She the Customer Service Manager and great to deal with.

Part Numbers are

51-2519-20-B Sink Cover for Large side/Left $15.00
51-2519-21-B Sink Cover for Small side/ Right $10.00

Shipping to Phoenix, AZ was $11.54 but no sales tax.

The cost for both sides and freight was still cheaper than any generic sink cover I could find. Our dealer wanted $49.00 for the Camco one. The G2 series come with sink covers and stove covers but for what we saved between it was worth the leg work.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your new TT. Take care.

What is the purpose of the sink cover, if you don't mind my asking? I don't think I'd want to use it as a cutting board as it probably would not look so hot after several uses.

This sink cover is good for the right side sink to add counter space for preparing food, not for cutting on. At least I don't cut on it. I have a separate small cutting board. I may be calling this plastics company to order one. Thanks for the info maromeo.

We got them with our Eagle. They make the counter look smooth but we use the sink for stuff when traveling and they are not good as cutting boards. We keep them at home in the garage.

Ok just to follow up with this. I did contact duoform plastics. I spoke to Sheila. She helped out immensely. I live in Kalamazoo Michigan and the duoform factory is about a 40 minute drive from our home. So I will be picking them up next week. Thanks for all the ideas.

I called Jayco about this today because I needed a model number of sink in order to get right size sink cover. They said it was not included in 19h models, guess because we didn't get the big rig. Jayco said I needed part #: 51-2025-51-B for smaller right side of sink for our 2012 19H. I will call plastics company on Tuesday regarding this.

I have owned and camped in multiple Jayco TT's and current own a 2011 36BHDS and it did not come with sink covers for the 60/40 sink either. Being a frugal type, I made my own custom cover from excess plywood and triple coated it with polyurethane after I cut out an area for the water to pass through. I cut the top to nest with the faucet base and still contact the edges.

I use it during meal prep to add counter space and work area but not all the time.

We use the camper as a seasonal escape in the NY Adarondack mountains from May to October, mostly on weekends so the camper kitchen gets a ton of use.

I followed this, and it worked to a tee - except I dealt with Tasha, who was very helpful. Paid approx $41 for the set. Thanks so much for posting this!!

I just purchased one plastic cutting board at Walmart that fits perfectly over the smaller side of the sink. This way I have some needed counter space while also being able to use the sink.

This is what I did. Bought 2 cutting boards from Walmart. One size for each side. Used the old cover that came with the trailer ( that didn't fit all that great ) as a close template. Than used a scroll saw to cut out the new thicker and usable sink /cutting board cover.

I made ours from a 18x24 poly cutting board, 1/2" thick. It he hardes part was making an acceptable template, but it the finished product looks almost factory. A lot cheaper than buying them.

We didn't even bother cutting ours to fit. I only put it on the sink when I need a little extra counter space. Otherwise it rides under the sink.

Our 28BHBE does not have one so I got creative and it's better than the stock sink cover. I traced it out with cardboard and split it in the middle where the two sides of the sink meet. Have a friend who makes cutting boards and he made one for us, exact fit! We chose Zebra wood, couldn't be happier!
