Slide outs

Why do manufacturers not use limit switches for distance on slide outs? It seems it would be a lot easier to adjust the travel limits. I hate hearing the noise they make when reaching the extended position. Seems like I'm doing damage to it

Slip clutches/gears have been in use for a long time so the damage aspect is probably very very low. As to why, it is probably the least complicated system,

Similar in design to electric windows which are for the most part very reliable. Limit switches and other electrical components do not necessarily add to reliability and in many cases just the opposite occurs. ~CA
