Soft Start System for Air Conditioner

What are our options for a Soft Start system for the 15,000 btu Colmen Air Conditioner that don't cost a ton? For use with a Honda generator.

Thanks,

Marko

I installed one last summer. My 15K Coleman AC runs great with my 3500 watt gen. Easy install,

Just a heads up to what I am looking for is a alternative to a Micro Air Easy Start Up or Easy Air Start Up. Something of the shelf form an HAVC suppliers house would be great. Any RV HAVC people in here that's using something else than what's mentioned above.

Appreciate it.

Marko,

"SUPCO SPPC6" has been referenced on a few past JOF threads as a cost effective alternative......, a JOF 'search' will provide additional insight on the product.

This is what I went with- I have no problem running my AC as well as other light draw type accessories at the same time on my Predator 3500 watt generator. Very easy install and easy on the wallet as well.

Regarding the Supco SPP6, I would recommend the SPP6E version which is still not too expensive but higher in cost than the non "E" version. The reason I recommend the "E" version is due to the type of relay it uses and allows for it to be ready to start between compressor cycles faster than the non "E" version which needs to cool down a bit between compressor cycles, and stays in the loop all the time (not much though, but enough where it needs to cool down between cycles). They both connect the same way so very similar and both do what they are designed to do however I believe the "E" version will last longer and better overall. ~CA
