One of the best "private campgrounds" we stayed at was at Fort Wilderness in Walt Disney World! It had everything.... cable, internet all hook-up capabilities, paved, clean campsites... What more can you ask for??

But for the most part, we stay at State Parks. Kentucky has some of the nicer ones I have stayed at.

In New York very few state CGs have electric, most are primitive sites. My A/C needs electricity, tv needs cable and many showers need sewer hookups. So it is private CGs for us.

Michigan has one of the best state park systems I know of. I am slightly biased but I have been around the midwest and can say Michigan has done well. All we get is power at our sites, we fill with water when we check in. The shower houses are top notch and cleaned twice daily. We only camp two out of ten trips at private CG's the rest at state parks. Besides, you save a lot more money and the scenery is better.....most of the time.

Both are good for different reasons. But it sure is nice having full hookups, cable, and wifi!!
