Stolen Trailer

Friends of ours had their 2011 Jayco jayflight BHS travel trailer stolen from their driveway yesterday. Trailer is in good shape, well looked after and had a browning gun logo painted on upper front left corner by previous owner. They live in province of Ontario. A slip of paper with a single name and US a partial US phone number was found nearby.

Sorry to hear about that. With the Canadian/US borders being closed, I doubt it will show up in the US, which should help limit the search area.

Sorry to hear about your friend's stolen trailer. The piece of paper could have fallen out of their truck, as they got in or out.

I assume most stolen campers end up as a hunting shack.

Depending on where you live, it might be worth a walk up and down the street to see if anyone saw anything, or if someone has a camera that views out onto the street and saw the trailer and truck go by. Might be able to get a description that way.

I would check Craigslist, local paper for sale and the little handout sale sheets. Also, call every one of the dealers all makes in the area and tell them plus offer a small reward for info like $250?

Not begins the fun with the insurance company. They will try to lowball you. Look up com-parables and not just NADA. Remember you will have to pay tax, title costs etc.
Sit down and start a written list with every thing you had in there, pots, pans, dishes, tools, stinky slinky stuff, chems, foods, bedding, chairs, lights, etc. and put a new price on them. After all, where are you going to buy a used stinky slinky or screwdriver? Keep looking at it and coming up with more!
Been there, done that, it will take time but a lot of money.

I keep a GPS tracker well hidden in my TT at all times. It's sure worth $10 a month to know the police can find it easy, if someone happens to take it for a ride.

Riverman, I have looked at trackers but see higher prices. Could you share your deal please. Also, does it need AC or DC or have it's own batteries.
Thanks!

Damn. Just read the police release. I hope your friends get their property back and the culprits are caught.

Thanks for the support. Hard to say where it will end up. They are doing what they can to get the word out. Police say they don’t get many trailers reported as stolen. Neighbours did see the trailer going down the road but I don’t think they were able to give a description of the tow vehicle.

RV's are getting stolen here in Tx and a few being found on theses small private long term camp grounds as rentals. Our Sherriffs office just recovered 2 at the same campground & one was stolen right off a local dealers lot.
Another use is the meth heads steal them to cook thier dope in for awhile then abandon & steal another. If it's been used for meth cookin you don't want it back.
