Storm Damaged
Hi all,
A few pictures of our 5 month old 312Bhok damages in a storm on 7/26.
Virtual State Farm claims specialist (COVID-19 protocol) estimated $22,000.00 with lots of interior finishes missing from estimate. Not acceptable. We paid for an on site estimate from a nearest RV dealer and repair shop (60 miles away) ($316.50), besides the point, he came up with $43,00.00 which just about included everything, even the 3.0 ground control system (bent from RV being moved approx 7” by front tree).
It has now been 3 weeks since storm and we are still working on a total loss claim. RV has been covered with 2 traps, -(by our doing only) though heavy rains still find their way in….
I don’t wish this process on anyone… In our opinion, any of the estimates are non-negotiable and the RV is a total loss claim….
Keep us in mind and or any thoughts are very welcomed.
Update, as of 8/9, our actual agent rep., Said it’s in at State Farm’s total loss claims department and is being processed……

Ouch, hope no one was hurt.
That definitely looks like a total loss. Hope you and your insurance company comes up with an acceptable value.

hopefully nobody was hurt but i would want that to be a total loss, can you imagine how long it would take to repair and it would never be right

State Farm ( at least in Illinois) will assign a different appraiser to compute your loss if you request it. It that doesn't work the next step is probably arbitration or legal.
One thing I did was call my dealer who helped a lot. Based on lots of pictures they calculated the cost to repair with detailed workup on labor and materials. I went back to State Farm and offered this information including pictures. They sent out a different appraiser who agreed to the dealer (at Pontiac, IL) who deserves many thanks!

One of my worst fears in some of the campgrounds we frequent. Being under those big trees is great for shade but scares me to death when the storms roll through.

Thanks all.
No one was hurt or in RV when storm came in, it was waiting in my yard for its next 2 week trip to Lake Linden, MI. In a week…bummed…
Yes, can’t say enough about those shade trees when rving….
The inside back bunk-room and front bedroom areas are completely destroyed, I’ll get pics of that from my better half soon and upload. The front tree actually did go thru also bringing down all the cab’s and some framework in the storage area.
State Farm says we should here something by tomorrow, estimated out at 35 days /repair from estimators /min.

Norty1,
That 2nd RV is my sons. That was parked on the other side of the tree and was untouched completely…
Lucky him, I couldn’t imagine dealing with 2 claims at this time…

Sorry about your predicament and glad no one was hurt. Yea the insurance company probably will want to low ball you. Figure based on the year and the upgrades you did what your RV would be worth. If they still low ball you, ask them to find one in the same condition as yours was in for the money they are offering you. It may be 6-12 months to settle. Just hold on for what you really feel it is worth.
Good luck and be safe -

Sure sorry about the damage. Praying you get a fair price. Insurance companies like to get paid in, but don’t like to pay out.

I talked with Progressive last year when we were updating our car insurance and they guaranteed that if ours is a total loss they would give us a 15K check so we can buy another one. That is what I paid for it and well, I hope never to have that happen. That is where our bunks are. Hope all is well and yeah, that is a total loss. Good luck with state farm. There are reasons we left them.

Thanks all.
We are in final process now. RV was deemed a total loss on Monday and waiting the specialists to get a value together, that should be done tomorrow, as we’re told.
Car part place from Milwaukee, (4.5hrs away) says it’s complicated to come pickup, but maybe by tomorrow it’ll be out of my yard….?, they talked about putting it on a low boy, goodness…, that’ll be a sight to see!
What a train wreck and lots of bugs in the their ears by us this process has been, but end result is in our favor. Thank God. A few pictures of the tree now gone and current view of.
More to come upon.
