I passed a very similar wreck up here in New Hampshire on July 6, also the same day this wreck happened.

The NH wreck was a travel trailer, looked like a "Spree" by KZ. It was being towed by a Cadillac Escalade.

This one occurred in Manchester, I-93 Northbound around 15:30. The trailer was on its side, still connected to the SUV. The SUV was also on it's side, and the whole combination had turned 180, so it was pointed the wrong way.

I was blocked from pics due to heavy wrecker activity, but I havn't heard anything about the NH wreck on the news.

Couldn't tell if there were sway control or weight distribution.

Sure is a terrible way to start your weekend.

Wow

Just a lack of knowledge. I tow with a Grand Cherokee that can tow 6200lbs, but I was very cautious in choosing our camper. I didn’t want anything over 4000 lbs (and that would be stretching it), so we bought a X17z, which I have no problems towing. Certainly would not go over the towing speed limit and I have WDH with an additional sway bar. But it was amazing/shocking going to dealers. They would say “you can tow 5000 with no problems, you can make it up the hills.” “Here’s a 28’ long 4800 lb trailer on sale.” It’s too long for the short GC wheelbase and it’s too heavy. I wasn’t concerned with going up, it’s going down and stopping that’s the problem. They just wanted to make the money and once your out the door, they’ll let you figure everything out on your own.

Wow, the poor person towing. So glad no one was hurt.

In 1995 we purchased a 27' TT and specifically asked if our 1994 Ford Bronco could tow it. Turns out the salesman was totally wrong. Yes, we were well under the weight BUT the short wheel base made it a white knuckle drive. We also had a 1990 Dodge conversion van (318 engine) and used that but it bogged down going up hills.

Since then we had verified all the information the salesman has provided against what our vehicle can handle. We had a 2004 F350 diesel dually and ordered a 2007 Cameo by Carriage. Turns out the Cameo was over our weight so ordered the 2008 F450 diesel dually - which came in the week before the Cameo.
