Surge Protector install question

Just finished installing my Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C and I'm not sure what time delay setting to use. It can be set to either 15 seconds or 2 min and 15 seconds. This is to allow your air conditioner to get itself sorted out in the event of a power interruption before it kicks back on again.

I have a 2013 Jay Flight with the 13.5K BTU Coleman Mach air conditioner. Does it already have a built in time delay? Which delay setting should I use on my EMS?

Thanks

I set my EMS at the 2 min 15 second delay because the OEM A/C delay resides in the thermostat which is powered by the RV's 12V DC system, not the 110V AC system.

If the 12V DC system wasn't effected by the 110V AC power interrupt, then setting the EMS at 15 second doesn't provided an adequate compressor motor re-start delay......, at least that's what was explained to me a few years back when I contacted Progressive Industries.

I called Airxcel and spoke with one of their tech guys - they are the company that makes the Coleman Mach. He said basically exactly what you responded with. The built in time delay resides in the 12V thermostat, therefore if there is a 120V power interruption the thermostat doesn't know any better and continues calling for the air conditioner. The air conditioner would respond immediately, hence the need for the delay.

The factory setting on the EMS-HW30C is 15 seconds and this can be changed to 2 min 16 seconds by removing a small terminal jumper. I timed it and it is accurate to the second.

According to Airxcel all of their air conditioning units do not have the time delay built in; it's always in the thermostat. It was recommended to me by them to use the longer delay in all cases.
