Surprise in "new to me" trailer

Hello Everyone,
I was just going over our new to us trailer and found the previous owner had some unwelcome visitors aboard ...this is the outside panel for the refrigerator. Lucky for me no-one was home. As you can see from the picture, there's lots of room for them to get in. I think maybe I will somehow attach some steel screening to prevent this in the future.

Camco makes screens that fit perfectly.

Some use the poor man remedy and just hot glue some vinyl screen on the inside of the cover.

A couple of years ago, as I was readying a former camper for the new season, I removed the propane cover located on the tongue. Surprise! live hornets. Later that same day I removed the cover on the spare tire. More of the same.

Last week I found a birds nest inside my fifths pin hitch area.

I guess a person should tap those locations with a long stick before getting to close, if it has been sitting for a while. I know I will be from now on.

In the glider in my avatar, on tow behind the tow plane, at about 100' and climbing, I had 3 in the cockpit that made their presence known. I was able to usher them out through the little 4" sliding portal in the side of the canopy without getting stung... not fun!

That's a little too close. I had a chance to go up in a glider on a visit to one of our military bases when I was 17, it was quite an experience.
