Swapping Bulbs For LED's

A few months ago I purchased a bunch of those led panels to replace the bulbs in our 17z. The ones I got were very bright but the wrong color. They made the camper look like an operating room. I was a bit gun shy to purchase a different set of LED's until a friend gave me one from a bunch he just ordered. They look great! They produce pretty much the same amount of light AND are basically the same color.

We have a 28DSBH so we've got the bunk beds in the back of the TT. Each bunk has a single bulb fixture so I put the new LED panel in one of them and then turned both fixtures on.

The only way you could tell which bunk had the LED panel was by looking at the fixture itself. I was impressed. So impressed was I that I actually purchased 40 panels to replace the bulbs in both trailers we have. We don't do a lot of dry camping but this summer both trailers will be dry camping for at least 2 weeks. With a bunch of kids around, the last thing you want is for them to drain the batteries down because they left a bunk light on.

Here's the link.

Looks interesting. Could you tell me what Kelvin temperature range these LED's are? Anything over 3000 Kelvin starts to get the bluish tint. We like the incandescent yellowish look.
Many thanks,
Bill B. (Michigan)

The LED's I got a few months ago had the blue/white tint. Like I said, it looked like a hospital OR. These panels that I just listed look just like the stock incandescent bulbs.

Ok, here's a shot of the bunks. One bunk has an incandescent bulb, the other has the led panel. Which one do you think is which.

If you get the led light panels that are rated Color Temperature = 3000-3500K They should be like your old bulbs. The 5000-6500k will be bright white

I upgraded the lights in our pop-up to LEDs just to cut down on the heat in the bunkends when they were on. I have been looking for suitable replacements for the TT. Thanks for the links!!!!

One final question. Do these LED's interfere with radio reception of the trailer? I've been reading that these cheap Chinese LED's produce a lot of RF interference.
just wondering???

W have the " O.R. " lights and we REALLY like them.
Then again we are nurses. That shade light makes us really comfortable for some reason.

I have the "warm white" LEDs (3500 K) and they give off just about the same light as the old #921 bulbs. I have not had any radio interference.

Radio and TV... (over air only) you can add a magnetic choke at the power in to each fixture..

Replace all of my 921 bulbs. I ordered warm white. Received cool white. As it turns out I really like the cool white better.

I ordered a couple 921 wedge type LED's from eTrailer.
I think they were $18 for a pkg of two.
Not sure if I got the lowest pricing, but they look good.
They have a wedge base and I think 14 LED's. 12 down the side and 2-3 in the ends.
They put out a nice light.

I guess I will have to measure and see fi I can use the flat panels some are using. They seem to only be about $4-5 a piece.

I ordered these to replace my #921 bulbs and before those I ordered a set of 10 from Ebay for around $27.00 They all seem to work fine. For the outside light and the hood light, I ordered something a bit stronger...like 2W which were barrel shaped.

They are very bright, equal to or better than the OEM's
They are a little pricey thought, ~$12 ea

Those are like the ones I got for the range hood and outside "scare" light and they work great. I was at one of those Big Box stores the other day looking at household type LED lights that were priced in the $14 to $16 range and on the bottom it said, "made in China". So what I can't figure out is why some of the same type bulbs can go for $12 when the same China import can be had for around a buck fifty when I assume they were both manufactured in China. Is one really better than the other? Or is the mark-up greater? I'm not against profit mind you, just curious about the difference in quality, if any

It is all in perceived value... some people feel they need to pay more so they can have bragging rights...

I thought the price difference was maybe the size and number of LED's?
Also, a flat panel/paddle shape is probably cheaper to fabricate than a barrel 360 degree design.

Not sure

Wanting to add some new lights to the new trailer, I ran across the Sylvania Wireless Task Light, a 4 LED light powered by 3 AAA batteries, in the local Home Depot. I bought 3 of them at $10.97 each, and just installed them. They came with a 3M double-sided tape disk, so mounting was a breeze. Since the light actually will snap out of the holder, I put a strip of tape over each light to keep them in place while on the road.

You can find them here:

I have a full set of the 48 led board lights most people have. They have worked great with no issues. A few months ago I found a different LED unit that has the same light intensity, easier to install, and possibly cheaper. I have thought about buy a few packs to try.
