Tablet with hdmi capabilities

I am looking for a recommendation for purchasing a tablet with HDMI outputs.
We like to take a laptop with us when camping so if we are at a campground with Wi Fi we can watch Hulu, Amazon video, Disney etc. A tablet would be just for web surfing and watching shows and movies it has to have a HDMI output to be able to hook up to our TV. I didn't realize this was so hard to find. Any help would be appreciated.

Try using Chrome Cast or Air Play with your tablet. If you have the Smart TV you shooul be able to do this with either app.. I use Air Play all the time, no cables to mess with and i stream HD Movies from my iPad to my big screen smart tv with no hick-up's...

You can get an HDMI plug for an IPad, ours works great. Plugs into the same port you plug in your charger. Amazon has a bunch available.

Assuming you have an iPad, you can cast without WiFi, however you are limited to your onboard memory to store your video content. You will need a Smart TV or an Apple TV box to cast to a TV.. Android tablets would need to use Chrome Cast and like Air Play you will need a Smart TV and or a ROKU or a Fire Stick Box/Adapter. I actually have my complete DVD Video Library (over 600 Titles) stored digitally on my home NAS video server. When we go camping, i will copy a a good handful of movies to a 256K USB storage device. Most newer TV models allow you to plug the USB device and the TV will Play your video Library Stored on your USB device.. When we have WiFi connections i can actually stream any content I have stored my home NAS server using a Raseberry KODI box.. Now that i have my Starlink Internet, we've been able to enjoy extremely fast internet connections in 90% of the locations we visit. Trees have been the limiting factor in the failed 10%.. My KODI box also allows me to stream any TV programing you would typical get off Dish or Direct and it's free.. We were in Alabama Hills bon-docking last weekend and actually watched the big Fury/Wilder fight live off our KODI box.. If you are wanting to watch stored video media, the best way is to go with a USB device. If your TV does not accept the USB, you can get a USB video player pretty cheap.. Attached is an example of that from Amazon.

Our experiences with CG WiFi is the majority of CG’s have it and the majority of them are useless for streaming. A popular work-around is using cellular streaming.
I took a different route and set up a media server that My Roku connects to via a LAN. It’s not dependent on an internet connection. My limitation is I only have access to movies that I have ripped to the server but our library is pretty large.

Are you using a NAS for your media server? I’m using the Synology 4 bay and been pretty happy with it. Was pretty easy to set up and has a solid firewall. So far I’ve had 6 devices streaming video off it at one time while also streaming a music channel with no lag or tiling issues at all. I started off with 12 TB drives and getting ready to add another 12. Thank god these drives are coming way down in price. I also stream music content 24/7 to a public internet music channel on internet-radio.com. Don’t want to advertise the specific CH, but it’s one of the popular Classic Rock Ch’s. No money in it, but fun, something to do. These NAS servers are really the only way to go next to paying to use a host on Vemo.

Yes, it’s a low end NAS, a WD passport wireless 4T. It supports streaming to only 3 clients IIRC but that’s plenty. The NAS broadcasts its own SSID that the Roku connects to and the NAS will also connect to the house SSID if I decide to set it up which I usually don’t (it’s part of the gateway to the CG WiFi which usually isn’t usable). This little passport fits our needs perfectly, it’s about the size of an external DVD drive, I’ve used about half of its capacity (4T) and have something over 2500 titles, buy-in was about $200. I keep it at home until we hit the road and keep it backed up on the house backup drive.
