Taking Firewood Across State Lines

It is kind of an odd dynamic where I am. I can drive between 2 and 150 miles and be in 5 different states and it would be illegal, but I can go 500 miles and still be in my own state where it is technically legal.

I did look on Tennessee's web site and they are now asking you not to transport any wood in the state and only buy local. I think the problem is getting worse. I am hopeful we will not get to the point they ban fires in our parks to prevent spread.

Difficult debate on this and all of you bring up good points. I think this is one of those areas that you just have to use your own good common sense and judgement to figure out when you should/should not bring your own wood.

I guess the secret is to be the one selling the wood. Most bundles of wood are 1 cubic foot. With 128 cu ft on a cord of wood that would make a $150 - $200 cord of wood worth $640.

We have a beetle infestation happening here. It is disheartning to see thousands of grey trees on the hill sides.

when it comes to those 5 dollar bundles I think I can do better with economy 2x4s at lowes or home depot and I guess they can be transported across state lines
6 16in. pieces from a 8ft.2x4 for about 3bucks and you might even do better if you ask about the twisted or crooked ones no one will buy for building ,there are usually a few in the rack.
