Tar removal

Just getting my rig ready for another season of camping in upstate NY. I've got a 2006 Jayco JayFlight 27.5 BHS. Just about a week ago we had a BAD windstorm that came through the area and tore off shingles from my house. Unfortunately the rear end of my rig caught the brunt of the storm. I've got three or four really NASTY shingle marks on my camper !!!!! Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remove the black tar substance that the bottom of the shingles left on my rig ?? Soap and water did not touch them. Before I try anything more harsh I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem..

Thanks to all !!! Happy camping !!!

I had a simular issue and used GoofOff. I used it sparingly and then cleaned with soapy water and waxed the area. It took the tar off easily. YMMV

I have tried many products and found "Turtle Wax Heavy Duty Bug & Tar Remover" in the 160z can to work best to remove tar and bugs from trailer and truck. The best part it doesn't cost that much and does a great job. Hope this helps.

Try WD40 . My wife actual used it on her car a couple of weeks ago and it came right off. It was the first time I had seen this before myself.

Bug and tar remover. Then wash with mild soap like Dawn. Final step, a couple of coats of wax.

WD-40 might disolve it too. I assume you are talking about the side of your trailer.
