I basically do the same but with my Android tablet and phone. My tablet and phone both have mini-HDMI out, so I can hook either device to our TV. With both, there is a hulu+, Netflix and slingbox apps. For the phone, I have unlimited data. Works great.

My parents are camping this week on the eastern point of Long Island where you are lucky if you can get cell service, let alone TV broadcasts. I couldn't pick up a thing with the antennae.

I went to stay the night yesterday and just got in. Luckily the nearby hotel had wifi since the cell coverage was very spotty. I plugged my phone to the TV and we were watching my home TV.

You can't be far away. My parents and sister have houses in Coram, my brother and I have houses in Port Jeff Station!

I've got a buddy that lives in Kings Park, right off the Sunken Meadow. I haven't been there in a few months but he's by some industrial area. A sanitation place I think. He actually might come out camping with me at the end of the month when I go to Wildwood. lol

So while setting up our new camper this weekend I was able to turn on the hotspot from my iphone so my ipad could connect and it worked great!! Now I just have to buy a wire to put the ipad or phone to the tv's. I was wondering does anyone know if Apple tv uses data when connected. We have apple TV which is connected to your tv and wifi. From the wifi it takes what’s on your iphone or ipad and sends it to the Apple TV box then to the TV. My questions is I know I’m using data to watch the Netflix movie on my phone but will I be using double the data when sending the signal through the phone to Apple TV using my Iphone hot spot? WOW re-reading this is sounds like a mess. Sorry. But if you get my drift let me know lol.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem. I setup an apple th at m parents house for them. When in the camper I bring an apple adapter that connects physically to the bottom of my phone. I hen run from that adapter an hdmi cable to the tv.

There should t be any fee when using wifi. The data portion of your account is only used up when on the cell network which would be 3G or 4g. You can stream Netflix 24/7 via wifi and it would have zero impact against your data plan

Im going to call Verizon to find out. Its not really a true "wifi" the wifi my ipad and apple tv connet to our my hotspot on my 3G phone. So when streaming netflix its using 3g from the phone sent to the ipad with a hotspot. So if i connect my apple tv to my hotspot which is really my 3g am i going to be charged for data using the apple tv. I know i will be charged for netflix. But not sure about the apple tv part or it..

Your mobile hotspot may be limited to 2GB which is going to get consumed very quickly streaming video. If you were fortunate enough to have unlimited plan with your iPhone, I would consider getting a cable and going that route.
