Teddy Bear Bunk Series mattress cover

Okay, I’m back pose another question concerning the Denver Mattress Company Teddy Bear series mattresses.
We bought a White Hawk 25BHS because we have grand children and needed bunks for them. Heres the problem. One of those rascals had an accident on our last camping trip. Soooo, we get home and pull the mattress out to remove the cover but some Einstein at the company decided that it would be a great idea to simply sew the pad inside said cover instead of putting a zipper on it. Here’s the question. What is the most efficient way to clean it short of taking it to the dump? And is Albert Still employed? Maybe he should consider getting a paper route provided he walk when he delivers. We certainly wouldn’t want him to fall off his three wheeled bicycle! 😡🤬

Mix one part 3% Hydrogen Peroxide with 5 parts warm water into a clean all purpose spray bottle. Add two tablespoons of any dish detergent. Do not add anything else. Spray on contaminated area. Let dwell 1/2 hour. Spray again, don't be afraid to get it too wet. Blot with clean bath towel or use a shop vac to extract. Then lightly mist area with solution, then dry with box fan blowing over the area. This should take care of stain and odor. If not, repeat process with stronger solution - 1 part H2O2 to 4 parts water.

Do not use vinegar or baking soda.

Have never seen an OEM rv mattress, bunk or otherwise, that came with a zipper to remove the cover. Going forward, I would invest in a waterproof mattress pad/cover on the guest beds. Please give Albert a pass on this as he was not tasked with creating a nursery mattress for the bunks. More likely he was given $200 and ask to furnish the entire interior.

Having never been a mattress inspector be it RV, nursery or assisted living wise, something as simple as a zipper on a mattress cover, especially those designed with sleeping children in mind, is a no brainer. As for Albert? He should give back about 190.00 and go take a nap. And he might want to consider a waterproof mattress cover.

This worked like a charm! Thank you for the helpful reply! Now to find some waterproof covers with cut corners!

Maybe a no brainer but hardly an expected feature. Not worth an argument, but the first thing we did when purchasing a new mattress expensive mattress in the master bedroom at home was to purchase and install a water proof mattress pad that was required but not provided in order to preserve the warrantee. DW and I were potty trained several years ago but who knows.

You are barking up the wrong tree if you think RV manufacturers are giving any thought to a zipper on a mattress. Hoping Albert is tasked with including a wall switch for the bedroom lite in our WhiteHawk. Now there is a no brainer.

Don’t get me wrong. Not trying to argue here. Just expressing frustration toward something that might contain some semblance of logic is all. If the RV manufacturers were smart, they’d fire their designers and hire two average housewives to figure out what needs to be and where.
Then our problems would be solved and I’m fairly certain that zippers would be included! 🤓
