testing quick connect

(Sorry if this is a duplicate post but I don't see the one I thought I already posted) Is there a safe way to test my propane hose quick connect coming out near the rear of my Fifth Wheel? I don't want to invest in a hose and grill equipment until I know that works and have nothing that connects to it now. I understand the can be a source of problems when not used for some time.
