This may seem like a silly question. Are there toll booths that you can pay cash/credit card? The reason I ask is that we have traveled through Texas a couple of times ( north of Dallas) and have never encountered a toll road.

The main ones are through Dallas, east of 35 bypassing San Antonio and Austin, and through Houston. All are easy to avoid.

Two years ago, returning home from 6+ weeks in Louisiana and Texas gulf, cruising thru Houston, Google takes me in this amazing Freeway, 9am ish, quiet and empty...2mi in I realized it's Sam Houston Expressway TOLL HWY!!!!!

That 3 mike detour cost me almost an HR of drive time...but..no $$$$$, guess I exited fast enough

Note:

Turn off toll roads in Google maps....lol

No, they are all automated now with license plate scanners. If you do not have a toll tag you will get a bill in the mail.

Unless you have a transponder from another area like Ezpass or SunPass. I have an Ezpass transponder and am charged the lowest rate and no surcharges with the tolls billing through my Ezpass account.

Houston has quite a few of them. They are easy to avoid if you are careful.

cover your plates

Hey Slopoke
If your toad is on the trailer just cover your plates. You don't need plates on a car that's not on the road!!
