The 23RB came in handy as a life raft today.

The eastern part of Virginia, as part of a larger storm, was subjected to some pretty fierce winds beginning last night and continuing through out to day.

It finally happened for us in Hanover Co, VA. Power was cut, most likely by a tree or trees being blown over into power lines.

I took a nap, and the power was still out when I got up. Not knowing how long it would be out, I hooked one EU2000i to the residential fridge.

Then I hooked up the trailer to the other genny. DW and I then retreated to the trailer, turned the heat on, used the gas stove to cook some dinner, used the micro to pop some popcorn, and watched some DVD's.

After dark, DW noticed lights were back on at the neighbor's, so we packed it in and returned to the house.

Sure is nice to have the TT to use as a lifeboat and escape pod.

This is interesting as our power was out for a couple days in north Ohio. I was thinking the exact same thing as far as using the TT for the remainder of the outage. Before I got home from work to begin the transfer from house to TT the power came back on. I did get a new Honda EB2800i inverter genny out of the ordeal.

I agree.

A few years back we had a tornado go through my home base town and knocked out power to the entire town (pop 680). After I came out of the town storm shelter and got back to my rig I fired up my generator for my morning coffee (It was 6:00am). When my neighbors saw my lights on they started coming over with coffee cups in hand. It is kind of nice to be self contained and makes you feel "special".

Sorry to take this off topic, but I had posted a question on the EG2800i a few weeks ago when I ran across it at my local Honda dealer. Do you have any feedback on it?

For the short time that I've used the new genny, it's accomplihed what I needed it to do. Had the sump pump running continuosly along with the 25 cubic foot freezer. Performed flawlessly. Not the quietest at 69 db under load. 61 db at idle. Can't complain, it got us through a pinch when needed.

Once it gets warmer, will you try and run your AC with it? I'm interested to know if it will start it consistently.

We had gusts to 70 mph here on the shore yesterday but never lost power thankfully. We take it on the chin here with these coastal storms being surrounded by water on three sides.

We have not had any bad weather here ,Just some wind which was a relief from the heat.

Others N East have had some BAAAD weather. I feel for those who are w/o power during this cold. We have relatives in NJ who have a ft of snow and no power. Thank God for Generators.

Of course Saturday I took the EU2000i Companion in for repair. The starter rope had started fraying this past fall. The other day when I was starting it, the rope pretty much failed altogether. There are just a few threads holding the two pieces of starter rope together. It's a good thing the Honda started as quickly as it did.

I had been planning on taking it in this spring any way.

My house has gas heat and is wired to a generator.
Believe me, the generator has more than paid for itself. Lost power for 5 days once.

For a house with AC you need a sizable generator. The all electric house we had (with AC), a 10-15kW generator was recommended.

At our last house we had no cooling system, just a gas furnace (we lived in the mountains at 6700ft). I used my little Yamaha 2400 when the power went out. It was enough for the refrigerator, freezer, and furnace. It would not power our well pump but we had a 1500gal storage tanks.

We have used our RV's as safe havens when power was lost as well as guest houses for visitors. During fire season in the mountains we keep it stocked and ready to go so we could bug out quickly.
