Post The first thing you did after purchasing your first Jayco was...

Hi all,

Just left the tent and popup world and purchased a 2018 Jayco White Hawk. I say purchase, but it really was a steal! I have already had a couple of test trips in the area and now venturing out to Branson, MO to meet with friends and fellow campers for the Labor Day weekend. Trip preparation is in full swing right now. Thanks for allowing me to join this forum. Looking to learn lots.

My oldest boy will be in the silver dollar city campground this weekend with his big slide in this holiday weekend. 2 slides and a dry bath.

Welcome. Have a great time in Branson. Make sure to do the Titanic. It's worth the effort.

We'll be down there the first week in October.

Booked a campsite for one night at a local campground a few miles away and had an open house barbecue with friends.

The first thing I did was go home and have a beer and wonder "what the heck did I just do?!?"

We left the dealer in Joliet. IL and went camping near the Jayco factory for three nights. Saw a lot of quilt shops, factory tour, Amish cooking. Shipshewana is a great destination for quilters, etc.

I would love to have a factory tour. I wonder if they still do them.

None of this sane camping in our driveway.. Or nearby.

Took off on a 4000 mile road trip to Florida. It was Feb and the weather was doing its three day cycle. Snow, Clean, Prepare for the next. We did the first two days and took off on Prepare day.

Somehow we remembered what we had been taught in the PDI and felt sorry for the guy in the first night campsite that had turned on his water heater with no water.......

But it was a simple 195 which was good.. Those that jump from tent to Fiver... I admire your guts.

Actually, started a list of warranty issues before even leaving the dealer lot, parts ordered. Went camping and added more items to the list. Happy in that we got a good deal on a nice unit, annoyed by the warranty issues.

Hooked it up, left the dealership located in Keystone, PA. and headed to Bar Harbor Maine. Toured New England for several days then home to South Carolina.

The first thing I did with my new Jayco Fifthwheel

The first thing I had to do was repair the water heater that wasn't working. It looks like the 12volt wire from the power center was severed when Jayco slid in the water heater. Replace the wire and now works fine. I have now had to fix several other problems with my Jayco. Slide issues, at Camper World for 10 weeks. Currently at repair shop now for second week with $14 leaf spring pin bad. Fifth wheel has less than 1000 mile on it. RV newbies you need to plan for up to a couple of months if you need to take RV to the shop. Any full time RVers out there. What are you doing for repairs that have to go in for service?

We called our insurance agent before we finalized the deal on our TT. I also booked a trip before finalizing the deal and picking it up. We brought it home, loaded it up, organized it then left the next day for our first trip.

Yup after driving it home a few hours from the dealer, I plugged our first camper into shore power, turned on the tv and had a beer. The second thing I did was take a pic of what I was up to and sent it to my wife. She couldn’t wait to get home from work and check out “her” new camper lol…

I drove it home and parked it under my shed. Then realized that I needed an adapter to get power from my 50a Marinco input on the trailer to adapt it to the 30a power pedestal.

Drove back to the dealer and purchased the adapter. Also ordered a 30a power cord that came with the 50a Marinco adapter.

I had to travel for work the day after we picked it up. I parked it, as well as my truck (disconnected), at my parents house. Told my dad he could feel free to drive my truck if he wanted.

He backed it up into the front corner of the trailer. So that’s the first thing we did with our Jayco. No damage that couldn’t be fixed, so it’s funny now.

We purchased 300+ miles from home, so we booked a campground 8 miles away from dealership for a 3-night shakedown. All was well except for the main Tv, and Stereo wouldn't talk to each other. Dealer came by campground twice, replacing the stereo head from another Pinnacle. That didn't work so he came back with a new HDMI cable. That didn't work, so last day he called and asked us to stop by on the way home. He replaced TV and that fixed it.
