Thunderstorms

I am sitting outside on a beautiful day in Silver City NM, temp about 85..
Thunderstorms rolling in from the west..

Wondering, do I pull my awning in?

Those storms hit us pretty hard in AZ. We had quite a bit of standing water for awhile. Water came down at an angle and so hard my vent for my stove and shorted out my microwave. Guess I need to go shopping. Today hot and humid.

Will you be heading down towards Deming? There are some nice wineries there. My favorite is St Claire's Winery. They have my favorite red wine. They brew and bottle for many wineries for AZ and New Mexico.

Any wind really makes me pull the awning in. I use tie down straps to help support it, but if it starts billowing I wait for the wind to settle down a bit and I pull the awning in.

I also pull the awning in at night. Better safe than sorry.

Bring er in. We were out last year and got to talking with a guy about his brand new unit. His first trip out with it. Later that day he and family drove to town for sightseeing and while they were gone a storm blew up and blew his awning up and over his roof. He drove home with the awning tied down upside down on the roof. Expensive lesson and one we take to heart now and always put ours in for the night or day when we leave it.
