I saw Azdel a few years ago on a MH and was very impressed with it. Unfortunately, at that time, the rest of the MH wasn't in line IMO.

I agree that if Jayco would start using Azdel and aluminum framing in their motorhomes, on top of the one piece fiberglass front cap, they would have winner for sure.

I was VERY sad I couldn't get Azdel on my Greyhawk last year...

They already use aluminum framing, have been for years.

This if from 2007.....

The 30GS and 31SS Greyhawks combine vacuum-bonded sidewalls, aluminum roof and wall frames and other high-tech construction with a Ford twin I-beam chassis.

What is this improved standard front cap on Winne's you speak of?

Considering the benefits at minimal cost I hope Jayco will soon join the list of Azdel RV's.
I have Winnebago's Minnie Winnie and Jayco's or Entegra's Odyssey on the short list of possible new Class C's.
Winn this year is using a improved front cap standard on the front. The Greyhawk/Odyssey though still has the very best front overhead front of all yet by a little. If it had Adzel in the walls the Greyhawk/Odyssey would win in a heartbeat.
Come on Jayco!!!!

I believe last year it was called front cap "B" which was a option, this year it's standard.

Looks like you're right! For some reason I thought this was a wood-framed rig.

Still, I think Azdel would be a fantastic switch.

Azdel used in Skylark

I have a 2011 Jayco Skylark and it has Azdel walls. I understand the Skylark was rather expensive for its time and used some "fashion forward" materials in its construction. Only lasted two years, though!

I think Azdel also does not off gas formaldehyde we almost went with a Sunseeker for that and also for the integrated heated tank discharge compartment...
Jayco suspension and interior quality won over my husband..

There’s no way everybody would or could switch at once, because it’s much more than just substituting one framing material with another. With Jayco’s vacuum bonded sidewall process, the walls themselves create the structure of the unit. With an Azdel composite system, you have aluminum framing in which the Azdel wall are screwed to. It is a complete different process. There’s no way Jayco will abandon their vacuum bonded primarily due to tooling cost. I believe Jayco feels people will continue to purchase Jayco RV’s regardless of how many units out there delaminates because of water damage. They’re still one of the most popular RVs on the market.

It's just as thin as luan and every video I've seen shows it laminated (glued) to the foam and aluminum.

This.

Azdel is used exactly like Luan, except it's way better, but more expensive of course. It is half the weight, and better insulating though.

For Winnebago, the price of a completed wall will not go up, even using Azdel since they will no longer used the expensive gel coated type of fiberglass they've used for so long.

The brochure clearly shows the Azdel under the gel coat fiberglass..It only replaces the luan not the outside surface and it is glued down not screwed down.

Azdel

Jayco did use this on the Skylarks. This is the best single axle trailer I've ever owned.
I've had no problems with this trailer. I know, that's hard to believe from a Jayco, but I've had a lot of different trailers in my camping life. This one is a keeper.

2012 Skylark

If I knew how to post a pic I would.

Winnebago is not using their old type of gel coat fiberglass. Not because of Azdel, but because the equipment on their brand new production facility could not handle the gel coat fiberglass. They had to make a change to regular fiberglass. I presume, Winnebago decided to go to Azdel at the same time since the cost of producing the side panels would not increase because the increased cost of the Azdel would be offset by the non use of the old gel coast fiberglass.

Without using Azdel, will Jayco redhawk/greyhark(Entegra Odyssey/esteem) wall be delaminated after 10-20 years even with good care?

Jayco seems not worry about competition.

No! There are many older rigs that are built with laminated luan and have no delamination. Proper maintenance and care is the key as with anything.

The next question would be: would you feel better about buying a three year old rig with Azdel or W/O?
Also how many owners check the seals on a regular basis? Not just the roof but around lights, ladders etc etc.

If you find problem in a seal, does it mean very likely delamination happened already? is it ok to just re-seal it by applying some glues?
