They have probably gone low several times over the years and the sidewall has weakened. Not worth the risk of damaging your camper, ruining your vacation.....or worse.

What is the difference, if any, between St tires and Lt or pass tires? I found some regular LT tires and they seem to be less expensive than ST ones.

LT are not designed to handle the turning / twisting loads that travel trailer axles exert on tires. I wouldn't replace using LT. But I definitely would replace those tires.

tire concensus
What size tire, rim and load range are they
Am I correct in assuming this is a single axle trailer?

I am going to replace them. Here is what I am having trouble with. According to the Jayco archives, the trailer came with 13 inch load c tires, ST175/80d13. Now I thought that the "d" was the load range. Am I correct? Is so what is with the web site? I have been looking at tires and a load c is rated for 1360lbs, for a total of 2720. The trailer gvw is 2900 and change. Not trying to be cheap (more like frugal), but the d range are almost twice as much.

You should install the load range D tires. I just replaced mine on my 228 and they are rated for 1710 lbs. each. If you were to load you trailer to these GVWR you will over load the tires. As well the load range D tires come in 185/80-13 size. Ryan

Be frugal somewhere, not on tires.

I too would get "D" tires.
The factory gets away with C because not all the weight is supported by the tires, ~10%-15% is supported on the tongue---either by the jack when unhitched or the TV when hitched.

Getting "D" tires will not increase your load capacity. That's still limited by the axle ratings. What "D" tires do for you is decrease your potential for heat related tire failures.

Good advice DocBrown. You sound like a boat owner. Are you?

The tires on our 2012 197 weren't radial. They were toast. I put radials on, but still plan to replace often. As stated above, cheap out somewhere else.
Last summer, on our way to Whitehorse, we nearly suffered from another poor fellow's tire troubles. A nice big gravel truck was coming at us full tilt, and I was watching it. Good thing, because I noticed the right front side start to "grow"! Out comes a steering tire and across the highway towards us. I was lucky enough to avoid the tire and the poor gravel truck driver herded the truck to a stop on the shoulder.
When I got stopped, I looked back, the fellow was out of the truck. I can only imagine the conversation on his cell phone...... "Hello, Ernie? Who the (bleep) put those (bleep)steering tires on my (bleep) truck?....... "Well, one came off and nearly creamed some poor dolt pulling a little camper!" Oh boy!!!!
