Tire pressure

Just wondering what everyone runs for tire pressure in their tow vehicle tires. Do you run what is on the door of the truck. Or cold pressure on tire. I ran what was on door. But seemed a bit soft for towing.

Take it to a scale and the adjust accordingly using the pressure chart for that particular brand and size.

Depends on what truck and tires you have and payload. You can follow the manufacture's recommendation on the door sticker. You can also weigh your truck and inflate them to a safe margin above the minimum for the loaded truck weight. In my case, my stock General Tire Radial Grabber HTS LT245/75R-17E tires are inflated to 65 psi in the front and 80 psi (max cold tire pressure) when towing my fifth wheel trailer due to the added payload.

I think there were just two of these “what tire pressure” threads in the last week. You can probably find those by using the search feature at the top of the page and likely the other 20-30 in the last few months 😁

My camper weighs 10K with 1400 on the tongue. When towing, I run max cold pressure of 80 psi in the rears and 65 in the front. Not towing I run 65 rear and 60 front as per the door sticker. I feel I get much less sidewall squirm running max rear pressure.

That’s what I’m talking about sidewall sway. I have high load range 10 ply Michelin on my truck. Thanks

On the toad I run with the tire pressure listed inside the door panel. I also have TPMS sensors on those tires too.
