Tire Pressure Monitoring System

For you guys/gals that have tire pressure monitoring systems on your RV's, does it bring "peace of mind" or does it just create one more "worry"?

I'm considering purchasing one for my RV.

It's a real peace of mind, as a good TPMS lets you know pressures and possibly temperatures of your tires at all times. If there is a problem, you will (usually) be notified in time to be able to choose where you pull off the road to handle it. You can usually handle the problem before non-repairable damage occurs to the suspect tire, or to your trailer undercarriage. The bottom line is that a TPMS increases your safety and the safety of those driving near you.

I will search but anyone want to through out some good brands / models of TPMS... It is something I plan to add but it's a little ways down on the list.

I'll add my thumbs up to the above.
My neighbor shredded a tire in a recent trip and it went unnoticed for a few miles which did a bit of damage to the TT wheel well.
All that and hey, it's another cool toy!

I have the TST 510 system on all wheels, camper and truck. In addition to being a good toy, mine has paid for itself twice over by notifying me of a problem before it caused a delay in my trip.

There are many options so do some research.

I just bought the TST 507 system with the flow thru sensors. Just waiting for the weather to cooperate so we can get the camper out and install it. I was motivated by seeing the damage caused by a shredded tire. Tweetys will give you a discount if you mention this forum.

Thanks to all that replied. The reason I ask, the company truck I drive has a tire pressure monitoring system. It will indicate a low pressure with, as example, right rear. When checked, there is not a problem. So, I never know when to believe the thing.

However, I do plan to purchase a system for my 5er. Just trying to determine which system to purchase. I've been looking at the "Tireminder". Any input on brands and why?

The ones in our company truck only report low tire pressure. It doesn't tell you which one and to me that is a fundamental flaw. What would really be useful is a readout on the driver info screen where you could scroll down each tire and get an actual PSI indication.

Tire Minder gets good reviews and seemed to have the features that I wanted (plus user replaceable batteries). I have experienced a few false alarms and recently added the signal booster (that now comes standard) and I'm hoping that will cure the false alarms. I like being able to scroll through the tires and see the pressure and temperature of each. Before leaving the curb I can check the "cold" pressures from the cab and can take a quick look while underway.
I'm sure the major brands are all good (I would like the "flow-thru" sensors) but TM is the one I picked.

RedHorse1, Does the system require the metal type valve stems or will it work on the rubber valve stems. As I type this, I'm not sure which type my camper has. Old age I guess, can't remember "stuff"

I spoke with them directly about that and was told that rubber was OK, which is what I have. They are short stems so I don't expect them to flex much. If you have metal stems they will exchange the sensors for ones to match the metal if needed (apparently there are steel and aluminum stems).
They've been really nice folks to deal with - we've spoken 3 times and exchanged a couple of emails.
