Tired Of Hand Cranking The 4 Stabalizer Jacks
My next door neighbor gave me a present when I got my new Jayco Skylark Trailer. It was a battery powered drill motor 18V, with a 3/4 Inch socket already on an adapter. I'd only cranked the stabalizer jacks one time and thought that it was one of things I'd have to put up with. But now, I just push on the adapter set the drill to reverse of forward and the jacks are up or down in about 3 seconds. This may not be new to many of you, but it was new to me and I thank my neighbor for it.
Two weekends ago we were at a campground and another trailer was next to ours. The husband was cranking up his jacks and I came with the drill and had all 4 jacks up before his first one was half way retracted. His wife kept poking him until he turned to see what she was looking at. I took the drill to his trailer and did the other 3 jacks and he said "next to the electric lift in the front, the drill must be the next best thing." He was going straight to a store to buy one.

I have a choice of two power attachments for my jacks. My Dewalt drill, or my 11 yr old son with manual crank in hand. Both work well for me!

I only have the choice of myself or my drill since my sons are all over 30.

There were many times my neighbor camper would see me with my drill lowering or raising the stabilizers and I could almost hear them thinking: "Doh!" I'd have the kids lower the stabilizers with the drill. The new Jayco has electric, even easier now.

But ..... in the mid-90's I came up with the idea and had 2 sets made, one for me and one for brother-in-law. Was 9.6 volt then but he has now graduated to 18 volt and still using the socket I had specially made and gave to him for Christmas present. He told me last Christmas that is the best present I ever gave him!

My old Jayco uses a "J" hook instead of the 3/4 inch socket for the stabilizers. I haven't found a "J" hook adapter for my cordless drill yet, but I'm still looking.

My old Jayco uses the same J hook design. I had some old bird feeder hangers in the garage about the same diameter as the stabilizer crank handle so I set off to making a version for my Craftsman 19v drill.
Dremel tool, hacksaw and about 20 minutes I had an adapter to raise and lower my stabs!!

I can drill up and down a lot of times for what you paid for that push button.. even at my retiring wage of $25.00/hr.

Use an Allen wrench in the drill chuck.

One of my previous TT had that and I bought an allen wrench for $1,77 and the guy even cut it down to the size I needed. Works fine for the jacks,

You might look at this site for some nifty ideas. This guy has done all kinds of mods and starting around pic #61, he shows some gadgets me made for his battery powered drill to help with leveling, etc. I am betting you could fabricate something clever using his methods.

I've never thought that raising or lowering the leveling jacks, or the tounge jack for that matter, was really worth spending money to avoid it. But I will admit I've given some serious thought to getting a cheap drill recently. I've also thought about an electric tounge jack - but for a couple of hundred bucks I could do a lot of cranking - better yet, could get my kids to do it.

FIY, I also use the drill to crank up the Hensley spring bar jacks.
The drill is very handy for more than just cranking the stabilizers and spring bars when traveling.

My manual says to not use a power drill to lower the stabilizer jacks. I have always been told that once the foot on the jack touches the pad, go one to one and a half turns more and stop. I havn't used the drill, but it may be hard to tell when the jack bottoms, especially with the power of an 18V drill. If I were going to use a power drill, I think I would run the jack almost to the ground then finish it by hand. JMO. I'm sure many people use drills without issue.
