Toad plug-in light issue

Twice now, I plug in the electric cable from the outlet on the RV trailer hitch apparatus to the plug-in under the front bumper of the towed Jeep. And the tail lights and blinker on the Jeep fail to come on when pumping the RV brake and turning on the turn signals. Giggling and reattaching the two plug-ins did not fix it. Then, I sprayed an anti-corrosive spray on both connectors -- and Jeep lights worked. Problem solved, for awhile.
Then the same thing happened when attaching the Jeep to the RV for the trip home and checking the Jeep lights. Giggle. Spray. Finally, I used a paper towel to wipe as much spray as I could from the inside of both connectors.
Is this a dust issue that dirtied the connections? Did I spray on too much anti-corrosive?
Is it time to buy new connectors, one for the Jeep and one for the RV?

It is very hard to say whether you have too much or not enough but if spraying it solves the problem then you have a connection issue. Use a contact cleaner or brake cleaner will work but don't get that on paint. Clean the contacts and use canned air to dry them. Give them a LIGHT coat of silicone spray. Be sure to give the plug an extra "push" when seating.

Since it is on all the lights, check the ground wire connections. Clean and apply light spray of anti corrosion. Also light coat of dielectric grease can help the fitting go together easily. Some times a little dirt can make it so you can not fully make the connection.

Grease tends to attract more dirt, especially considering the location of these plugs. Silicone would seem to be better.
