Toilet burping / vent issue?

Having an issue with the toilet in our 5th wheel. It’s our 5th camper (4th Jayco) and have never seen something like this. When you flush the toilet, you get a big bubble that comes up before the waste goes down. Needless to say, it’s not a great aroma.

I’m assuming that it’s a vent issue, but I’m not sure where to start with fixing it. I’ve tried a forum search and see where others have had this issue, but didn’t see anything about how to fix it.

The unit never did this before this season, so I’m guessing something may have plugged the vent up top?

Anyone had to fix this issue?

Nevermind - boy, i over complicated that one in my head! I guess that vent is further up in the throat of the toilet than I thought. Could actually see the problem with a flashlight - felt like I was staring into the abyss of Hades.

A long and thorough flushing of the black tank, and a long stick was more than enough to fix the issue.

How embarrassing. Only leaving this one around in case someone has the same issue and does a search.

Glad you got it resolved - Never a need to be embarrassed. Think of how many of those previous posts you found without fixes chose not to post their solutions...

I had a long stay in an RV Park in 2019 and had the same problem. With good advice from a neighbor RVer the problem was quickly resolved. When connected to a park sewer system, you need to keep your black tank closed and open every few days to discharge. When the Parks sewer system begins to ‘back up’ when your black tank is open, your tank acts a holding chamber, overfilling and you end up with that disgusting burning. After taking my RV neighbors advice, I never saw that problem.

Completely agree. When it a full hook up site I keep the grey open until the day before we leave. And only dump the black as needed. The clog in this case was due to someone using a fistful of TP, but it’s amazing that no one took credit .
