Has anyone found a TP that actually dissolves? We've tried several brands from the local super market that are supposedly septic safe and did a test of a single sheet in a jar of water. We also tried the Thetford Brand sold by Camping World and advertised on the package as quick dissolving. Again I placed a single sheet in a jar of water and 2 days later I still had an intact single sheet.

Here's the Steps for a TP Test

Canning jar with a lid
One cup of room temperature water
Place one sheet of TP in the canning jar with the water
Give the jar one shake, make sure you have a lid on!
Let stand on the counter
Review the canning jar with TP every few hours, you should see significant results within 12 hours
Extra shaking of the jar isn't required, remember that your RV isn't doing a lot of shaking unless you are traveling along a very curvey road.

Doesn't the chemicals you add to the toilet help dissolve it also?

Most folks on those threads didn't actually test the paper in water to see if it dissolves, but relied upon anecdotal information such as no clogs or the label says septic safe.

We've been using off the shelf septic safe TP since 1977 and have never had any issues. And as howie said the chemicals also play an important part of the process. Also Rid-x just came out with an RV liquid that seem to work very well.

I don't like hauling liquids of any kind around in our trailer for extended periods of time. We generally try to dump every other day when we are traveling.

Just for grins, test s single sheet of your TP in a jar of water, you might be surprised at what it doesn't do.

Just add lots of water before you dump, We just use regular tp and never had a problem.

We have been using regular septic safe tp for a while and have had no problems. I don't know what it doesn't do once out of my sight, but I know it does what it is suppose to do beforehand.
Are you having issues with your black water tank?

We use Angel Soft at home and in the trailer. It says septic safe. No problems yet...

Use single ply tissue. Desolves better.

I just buy a 4 pack of RV TP from Walmart when needed. The cost is minimal compared to what I spend camping.

Great idea but our local wal mart does not carry it. I had to buy a starter batch on amazon. I then found out that the wal mart near our campground does stock it. I guess demand is higher near the campground.

I've tried the single ply, I've done tests on about 7 different brands of TP. I'm going to say this.. The LITTLE effort it takes to dump and clean a black water tank. We now use the TP that our rear-ends like. We have gone as far as 2 weeks without dumping. When it came time to dump, NO ISSUES!! We do use a chemical for odor control, but beyond that.. I use the TP I want to use.
