No, just use stuff that will easily dissolve in water.
We use Scott single ply.
Do the mason jar test. Put a couple of sheets in a jar and then cap it and shake it up. If the TP breaks up, its ok to use. If it stays pretty much in full sheets or big clumps, then find another brand.

The secret is not the TP used, but use lots of water. I use northern two ply and never a problem.

It would depend if your stationary or moving. I've seen regular paper used when the rig was in a long term sight, that has caused major problems. If your agitating the rig by driving then perhaps regular paper may work. Do a test with paper in water and no agitation, much of the paper doesn't break down, it doesn't take much to build up at the bottom of the tank and be a major problem to remove it. Also never use the "flushable wipes" they are a disaster in wait.

Special RV paper is made for a reason. Good Luck.

I stocked up on the RV specific paper. The wife and I went to one of the many "tours" of a local Glamping resort. They showed us around asked for our money and gave us a $100 camping world gift card for our time. That gift card turned into a huge pile of TP. It should definitely be enough for our camping season.

We lean towards the RV TP. I like to travel with a few gallons in the black and flush right after arriving at CG or storage. That usually dislodges paper that my last dump didn't get. I can imagine the inside of the black tank on a 20 Y/O TT would look like a 3rd grader's paper mache science project.

In the store read the packaging if it says Septic safe it is OK to use in the RV too. I have been using Kirkland(Costco) for over 10 years now with no problems. That RV specific stuff is too much like sand paper

I use Charmin Ultra Soft.

RV Toilet Paper Test from The Fit RV - now with children!

A somewhat silly video, but relevant and helpful IMHO.

I agree with the video, if your moving daily or every few days. If your going to be stationary for a week or two, with no movement in the tank, then I would definately go with the RV paper, it will break down without agitation.

Use the highest quality RV toilet paper you can get don't buy any other kinds of paper that people say will work. The alternative is no fun to have to get your black tank unpluged it will make a good weekend turn bad.

This is a great way to test what paper to use . Most problems that people have are from not using water which in turn causes the "dreaded pyramid "
