Toilet question

Yikes. Can’t believe it’s one of my first questions. But since I will immediately be replacing the plastic one, it likely may be one of my first orders. But with your RV travel experiences, if you were ordering for your RV, what would be the specifics ( including name brand and style) of the toilet you would order and perhaps even a reason why if not too personal?

We’ve had no problem with the original plastic throne. Why are you immediately planning to replace it?

The biggest reason we have for replacement would be to get a taller unit. The one the trailer came with works as it should, but is very low to the floor. Almost child size.

I have replaced the toilets in all my RV's with porcelain ones. Mostly for ease of cleaning but also for a more home like feel. I've had good luck with the Dometic 320 model as it is standard height. I do carry a spare bowl seal as they do tend to leak after a while.

What I have found this morning, after fifteen minutes of research, is that ceramic RV toilets weigh around 45lbs. and plastic ones weight around 8lbs. My little TT will be getting a tall 300 series plastic Dometic when I decide I’ve had enough with the Lilliputian sized can!😂

Rather than replace the plastic toilet, I opted to install this riser.

Go for "chair height" toilets.

Crappy Subject!

Unless you have problems standing up from a low position it's actually better to do a number 2 in a squatting position. I personally do not like tall toilets.

I haven’t found a reason to change ours. 4 years old, approximately 15,000 miles with out a problem. It’s comfortable enough for me to read a couple pages of “ Guns & Ammo “ and maybe the most important feature is it’s size. I can get out of the shower and have room enough to dry off and get dressed. DW is 4’10” and her feet touch the floor when she using it. I have been married to my DW for 47 years, I have learned to pick my battles. Installing a taller toilet ain’t one of them!

The plastic Dometic Model 300 that came with my 23RLSW cracked and fluids started collecting in the shell of the toilet. Known problem with that toilet. Bad smells, occasional leakage. I replaced it with a Dometic Model 310, dropped right in place. Much better, and only took about a half hour. Dimensions are basically identical between the two. Both are the high seat, much prefer that.

Good luck.

Roger

Any significant difference between the 310 model and 320

Will that work on a Dometic brand 310? Can’t find any info. My porcelain model was selected by short wife and is not high enough.

No problem with the height or operation with the factory plastic one. No need to replace it. Have all the parts to rebuild it when needed. Carry them in my spare parts box.

I looked at both installation manuals and it's really hard to tell. These manuals don't include the bolt spacing. One of the reviewers mentioned that it works with the Dometic 510.

I have an Aqua Magic V plastic toilet.
