I also bring along a meter to check the voltage and a tic (looks like a pen, checks for power)
Another thing I bring is a good set of headphone and a meditation cd. The cancer agency taught me to meditate. I find when I first go away the cd helps me to slow down and relax a little more, so I'm not sitting outside wondering what I should do next. I also bring a bee sting kit. Enjoy your trip.

Congratulations on your new TT. I have been camping since the mid 60s and I still seem to learn something new everyday. I bought my TT in December. The dealer gave me a great deal so I figured I would buy some of the basic RV things from them. The dealer talked me into a Thetford sewer hose. Very fancy new pricey item but he told me how great it was over the Camco I had used for years without any problems. I gave in and made the purchase. That pricey Thetford new style sewer hose has plagued me more than anything else. My first dump with that sewer hose leaked black water on the ground. Fortunately the valve worked and I got it all shut off. Yesterday I finally chopped the end of that fancy sewer hose off and replaced it with the Camco connector.

I like this forum a lot because I can read of other RVers good experiences and bad experiences and learn from them.

A pair of rubber gloves for handling sewer hose. I carry a box of disposable gloves. Another good acc. is a patio mat. Saves dragging mud dirt and grass into TT. You will find things to add and things to eliminate

my first question is

What would be the first 10 things i HAVE to have being brand new?
Welcome!!! I am a newby also. And believe me, I have asked tons of questions here and no one has let me down!
I would say for me, the top 10 would be:

Sewer hose and fittings
Fresh water hose
Water pressure regulator
Wheel chocks
water filter for hose
Tow mirrors
A decent brake controller
Wheel leveling blocks
extension cords
Electric tongue jack

A small power meter to check the quality of the power from the power pole. Trust me, I lost a microwave because the pole was putting out too may volts.

I would carry a small brass "y" coupler for the for the water. I have been at camps that had one water supple per 4 campers but you had to supply your own divider.

Something to look at for the future.... A blue tote to carry excess black/grey water. Some of my favorite camps to do not have sewer.

A torpedo level.

A refrigerator fan to improve the cooling ability.... Might even consider a kit to improve it.

A water cooler. Cuts down on water bottles and cooler space.

A good cooler.... Pre-freeze your ice... Don't just buy that bag and put in in your cooler.

A good easy to clean grill. I have this one and I love it http://reviews.basspro.com/2010/5847...ws/reviews.htm

Tool kit

First aid kit

Fan

Zero gravity chairs are SO much better than bag chairs

Bucket light. You'll love it!

Small entry way carpet.

Dollar store fabric softener for the toilet.

45 clear bend for the potty hose

Small fire starter logs. $.99 at Walmart per log.

Small broom and pan pan

Baby wipers are gold

That are just a few things to start thinking about.

Depending on where you camp don't forget the skeeter repellant and sun block. Not necessarily big items but you'll regret forgetting them if your somewhere without a camp store.

I carry a right angle brass hose fitting, attach it to your city water intake, point it down and you can attach your hose and/or water filter kink free.

Just go to Camping World and your cart will fill itself plenty fast

Looks like a lot of my ideas were taken, but here it goes!

-Extra wood blocks for under the stabilizers and tongue jack (not having the jack fully extended reduces wobble)
-RV legos for leveling (makes it quick and easy)
-2' level (has been said already, but it's one of my handiest tools)
-Cordless drill and socket if you don't have electric stabilizer jacks
-Sewer hose level-adjuster/cradle (makes life way easier)
-Tool box with basic hand-tools/mechanic type stuff
-A good helper (my wife has become a master of helping setup. Our kids are young, so they don't get to get out of the truck until the trailer is leveled at least. They're pretty anxious, so quick setup is paramount). We've had to work on our communication skills to accomplish this :hihi:

I made myself set up and departure checklists and laminated them. Helps me remember all critical steps. Also I recommend having 2 water hoses as I have camped at places where one hose would not reach the spiget. of course purchase everything that has been listed before my comments and don't forget to include a nice little toolbox.

A few good kids movies and a nice bottle of wine or two.

You can totally save a rainy camping afternoon by putting a movie in for the kids inside and having some wine under the awning with your spouse.

Camp Chef(or any brand equivalent). Meals are much easier to prepare.

For those of you that use the "slunky" or expandable sewage support systems... I grabbed an 8 foot piece of vinyl gutter, and cut it into 4 foot sections. Takes the loops out of where your hose goes and provides excellent support for the downhill!

So many great ideas already, but here are some things another newb (me) added after the first couple trips:

1) A set of large channel locks (to loosen a stuck sewer cap among many other uses)
2) A regular garden hose (in addition to your fresh water hoses) to rinse out sewer hoses or run your black-tank flush
3) Head-lamps
4) Go to Harbor Freight or Big Lots and get one of those multi-packs of cheap aluminum LED flash lights. DW bought a couple packs and we leave them all over the place so we're never searching in the dark for a flashlight
5) A set of radios to communicate with your spotter, DW in my case. This dramatically decreases the volume and frustration of our setup process.
6) A couple gallons of store-bought drinking water, you never know what the water situation will be like...
