Towing Vehicle for a 145RB

Hi Everyone,

We are thinking of buying a 145RB but wonder if our Lexus 350RX 2009 is capable of towing. Anyone out there with experience? What are others using?

thanks!

I tow with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a v6 3.6L engine and a towing capacity of 6,800 pounds. I tow with ease and a great Andersen WDH. But I googled your car and it says 2,000 towing capacity, 3.500 if you have the towing package. Not sure if that is correct but between in car load and the weight of the towed trailer I think you may be way over a safe amount.

A 145 has a max weight of 2,990 plus hitch and car contents. Also, some vehicles have a limit of front area towing allowance that reduces towing capacity and engine strain.

You can pull it, but can you stop it? Will it be the tail wagging the dog?.

I your Lexus has a factory tow package, It's rated at 3500 lbs. If not, the rating drops to 2000 lbs. The TT dry weight's 2400 lbs., with a GVWR of 3140 lbs. That doesn't leave a lot of room for items you'll be likely to stock the TT with. Just my personal opinion, but I would not. Especially if it doesn't have the optional tow package.

Hi, I'm looking at the Anderson weight distribution hitch for my 145rb that I'm waiting to pick up. Would you happen to know the frame size on the 145rb? Not sure on what size weight distribution bracket I need. Thanks

We don't have a Lexus to provide you with info. We do tow our 145RB with a 2013 Tiguan 2.0L turbo. Recommended tow capacity is 2200lbs. The Tiguan easily tows and stops the 145rb with no problem. First year we had a tire blow out at 90KM/Hr and the Tiguan didn't even flinch. We don't have weight distribution hitch and don't need it. We do use an anti-sway bar and a Prodigy RF Brake Controller which works extremely well. CanAm RV have used Tiguans and others to do towing comparisons with other 4 cylinder vehicles (eg BMW X1). Check out their website.

Also do a search on this site "Trailer for Lexus 2007 RX350 recommendation
as there is a posting from someone with a 2007 Lexus 350 with 3 pages of feedback postings.
