Trading '13 284BHS TT for a '16 29.5FBDS 5er

After 3 seasons with our 2013 Eagle 284BHS TT, we decided to trade it in.

While it is a very nice unit, it just wasn't meeting our needs as hoped. It was too hard to get our extra crap in/out of the back bunks where we kept it. The gray tank was a bit small for a week long outing, only about 32 gals. And worst of all, my 6'2' arse is too long for the bed. Either my head or my feet were always up against a wall.

So we're getting the floor plan we should have bought 3 years ago. But it in 2016 it is in the Eagle HT line instead of the Eagle line in 2013. About 2 weeks ago we ordered a Eagle HT 29.5 FBDS.

Unless our grandson is with us, we plan on keeping our extra stuff up front in the bunk house area. The main bedroom is in the back end where my noggin' will appreciate the full height ceiling, a usual problem with me in a conventional fifth wheel floor plan. The gray tank is twice as big @ 65 gals. And biggest of all, the bed is a full length queen, the same size as at home.

So I'm getting things together. I got my Pullrite 5th wheel hitch and bed rails, and an in-bed trailer plug-in harness. I put my truck cap up for sale this afternoon and already got a nibble. Just have to wait for the weather to get a bit warmer and for the driveway to dry up some more. And I'm sure my helper will be out there making sure I get it all done correctly.

Our move from a HTT to the 5th was an "eye opener". The basement, what am I gonna do with all that space?

Problem solved. just get more stuff.

Hi Tail gunner,
Can you (or anyone else on the forum) share some experience with the 29.5 fbds? We are looking to do an upgrade as well and are currently deciding between the HT 29.5 fbds and the Wildcat Maxx 312 bhx...
What is your impression about the quality (what I read is promising and I like their insulation package) The storage outside however seems to be small. Can you store bbq, chairs and table there?

Thank you everyone for your help!

Not on this model! We liked the idea of this floor plan, but when we saw it in person, we realized that it would work for us! No basement storage under the front. In fact, very little outside storage.
