Trailer Insurance Costs for Permanently Sighting

I just got RV insurance and am paying over $400 for a $23,000 unit w/$2,000 personal coverage for my new to me 2008 Eagle Lite 27.5 unit. The deductible is $1,000. It's almost as expensive as my homeowners insurance but is only worth 1/10th....it's with Progressive. Is this out of line? If so do you have any suggestions?

Hi Herb,
I have Progressive as well. $2500/$2500 deductable comp/coll on a 26BH, $125/yr. Original price of $15K. Progressive is high, I'll add it to my AAA once I get my cars transfered over on my next renewal.
My extras are....
Fire Dept Service up to $1000 (didn't know that if your RV catches fire you have to pay the fire dept for their services)
Emergency Expense (hotels, cars) $750
Vacation Liability (non-reimbursed vacation expenses) $10000
Good luck,
Jim

Wow ... the FD thing caught my eye too ! Didn't know that ......

Cindy has been looking into the insurance thingy for us, and its been quite confusing since our RV is at a seasonal site all year.

I'll have her post what she has ran into this evening.

Progressive said that they did not offering RV insurance if you were parked in a permanent site.

I got several quotes that included insurance for flood and it was between $673-$780 per year. This covered replacement of RV and up to $3000 of contents...for a $17,000 unit.

American National is $150 a year. Home owners covers anything while on property, vehicle covers anything while connected and the $150 year covers anything while camper off property parked. Thats for a $23K camper.
