I once worked for a company that was located inside a self-storage facility. Over Fourth of July, someone entered the facility (which was fully secured with barbwire fencing) and stole two 20lb tanks from a TT. We suspect that they ran out of gas while preparing the holiday meal and couldn't find anyone open get their tank(s) refilled... so they did the next best(?) thing.

Propane tanks are also stolen for use in meth labs. While this may not be a big problem where you live, it is in larger cities.

I've been monitoring our 185RB in the public storage facility to make sure things stay on it. We happen to live in a meth hotspot and I was a bit worried. No problems so far. We did have the day when we came back from a weekend trip and found a "classic" car parked in our spot. I towed the beast home and called the storage managers in the morning. Within an hour they called back to say they had seen the people spot the car on the DVR system and had "made them know that they won't never do that agin". I'm waiting for the bodies to show up in the river.
