Travel Trailer Windshield Blind

We are looking at ideas to replace the roller shade that is on the “windshield” of our White Hawk travel trailer with something that mounts to the inside frame. We are thinking about a cellular type shade that has tension so the shade doesn’t fall since the windshield is on an angle. Just wondering what others have done.

Our SOB trailer has a vinyl fabric blind that attaches with snaps at the top and bottom. There are two straps to hold it open that are also on snaps, but we pretty much keep it closed unless peeking out in the morning - our dog loves this ritual.

It fits very well and there is really no light leakage around the edges, the bedroom is very dark now that we also have a pillow insert for the roof vent.

Our last trailer (145RB) had an "accordion" type blind like the other windows and it worked well. Jayco stopped putting front windows on a lot of their trailers and our new unit doesn't have one.

This insulation material may work for you

We just purchased a 2024 Jayco White Hawk and before we made our first trip, we knew we wanted more shade in the front windshield/window. So we found this "RV Door Window Shade Cover RV Blackout Window Shade Reflective Insulation Roll Aluminum Foil RV Window Insulation Kit for RV Garage Roof Door Window Skylight Shade (Black,120 x 47 Inches)"

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNRX6YZW...sin_title&th=1

I cut it to fit the window (be careful with your measurements because the window curves - I cut it larger then needed then made smaller cuts till it fit well). I used the self-adhesive velcro tape it comes with to attached in the corners and sides. Attached are pictures. From the inside it matches the black roll up shade nicely and from the outside, the foil is slightly visible but not that noticeable since the window is tinted. It comes folded not on a roll like to picture shows so the creases are noticeable.

I had enough insulation left over to cut a piece for skylight in the kitchen and if I decide to cover other windows.

This may work for you.
