Traveling South on 95????

We are going to Myrtle Beach in a coupla weeks from Baltimore MD..I was just wondering if anyone recently has traveled 95 south on the stretch from Baltimore to Myrtle Beach and how was the roadwork and did it cause major delays??? My brother wants to take 301 and last year we did that when we went to BethPage in Va and it was bumper to bumper from red light to red light alot of the way... So just looking for some advice...

We always take I95 South - 295 Around Richmond... Go past SOUTH OF THE BORDER and take a short road to the East - Maybe two exits south of the border in SC.. This dumps you into US501 This is great road for big rig going into Myrtle Beach. Comes out just a block from LAKEWOOD on 17 bypass...

We would travel at night and plan on being there around 10-11 a.m. and beat the traffic. The campsites were usually ready and if not we would grab an early lunch and hit the grocery store.

Made the trip from MA to FL down I-95 about six weeks ago and while there was a lot of road construction just south of Washington D.C. we weren't delayed at all. There were stretches where the road felt very narrow (shoulder was blocked with jersey barriers) and I was glad I didn't have the TT in tow.

x2. Timing is everything. You can get a lot of beach destined traffic heading out to Willamsburg and Norfolk off 95/295 around Richmond during certain days to and fro. Friday's and Sunday's have to the worst. Also there are a few rest stops that are shut for renovations so make sure you plan ahead for a fuel stop. Not fun around some DC areas with a trailer.
