When I measured my trailer height to put my measurements in my Garmin RV 760LMT,
I measured to the top of my radio antenna. Not my Air Conditioner Never had any issues.

I had to turn that long-bed crew cab around and go back out and exit at the entrance to save the roof. And, to accomplish that, my DW had to stand in the bed of the truck and push a sign that hung on chains aside while I maneuvered the truck.

We (almost) laugh about it now.

Hopefully one day you can laugh about your 8'7"Ram.

This is exactly what happened to me. I hit the hanging exit sign on the way out. There is a slight grade down as you approach the ticket gates. No warning that it was lower than the entrance.

Not towing related but I drove my truck up Pikes Peak, CO last year shortly after buying it. The pucker factor was high on that drive.

Never happened to me; however, I saw a truck pinned under a cement separator in the underground parking one day. They were letting the air out of the tires to try and free it.

My most nerve wracking moment was towing over a covered bridge. 12' clearance for a camper that's 11' tall was one issue. The whole 'covered bridge' thing was another. "The bridge was built in 1873, and is 15-foot-wide (4.6 m) and 130-foot-long (40 m), making it one of Bucks County's longest bridges."

Never, ever again. That trip was a nightmare for other reasons. Got into an accident with the tow vehicle during the stay, the awning broke and I didn't catch any fish. Never stay in site 13.

Does that mean you'll never come and visit me? My house number is 13. My email address ends in 13, I retired on Friday the 13th. Do you think I'm superstitious?

This post was off topic. Now back to our regularly scheduled program!

Needles Highway

This is one of many tunnels on Needles Highway between Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park.

Obviously I'm not pulling my TT. What I don't know is how that big bus was going to get through.

It seemed like I would have rubbed skin off my fist if I had them between my mirrors and the rock wall.

Noticed as soon as I got home (and started really worrying) that the listed height of my octane on the jayco site did not include the AC or any of the stuff mounted on top.

Wow!!!

We almost went that way because it looked scenic last Fall on our trip to SD. Thankfully the All-Stays app warned us of low clearance obstacles so I went the other way to get home! Thank goodness

Hey fellow Winnepeger! I know that bridge well ! Always was nervous crossing it. I got one that probably one the nasty ones!
There is a switch back ride down the side of a plateau, past a town called Anahiem Lake, going down to a town called Bella Coola here in BC.

I was traveling a county road at 50 MPH that was new to me with my X17Z, not paying much attention to anything. All of a sudden an underpass/short tunnel showed up with a 9'-6" warning. OH CRAP! I'm over 10'! Too late now! I headed for the center of the road and waited for the crunch, but it didn't happen. It was an arched portal, and apparently the clearance message was at the roadway edge. Luckily no traffic was coming the other way. Lesson learned!

Angry Look out for trees also

Not a tunnel but as I was driving my new MH home for the FIRST time after the first winter storage, I found out that my neighbor's tree has a branch that is just at the right height to hit my awning!!
The worst part was that my wife watched the whole thing!
I was able to straighten the arms and had to replace the motor cover, awning and rail. I won't park there again.

Too many stories to list in this forum, but RVers still
must be careful to know their true 5th wheel height
because there are still RR trussels across America that
are less in clearance than most RV 5th wheel trailers.
Know your equipment- Drive carefully

We were leaving Boston and heading home. Unbeknownst to us we got pulled over by a state trooper. We had absolutely no clue and were like great now what. Found out Boston has a no propane rule in their tunnels. We were like seriously? So now what. We ended up with being police escorted thru the tunnel and I was like seriously? I am going to be laughed at or laughing at this for the rest of my life. Now I look at tunnels more seriously then before. We were glad nothing like that happened in Pennsylvania. I guess MA is more serious then other states? Good luck.

I've taken our Alante back and forth in the HRBT (I-64 tunnel) dozens of times with no problems. Soon, however, we plan on going up the Eastern Shore by taking the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT) (you soon get used to which bridge or tunnel people are talking about since there are so many) and it is two-way traffic. And narrow. Construction is underway to put another tube in so that each one will be one-way traffic.

Construction zones

Driving our new Alante from the dealer, I had to go through a construction zone at an intersection. Very tight and a semi pulled up next to me in the right lane. Since it was so tight, I decided to let the semi go first once the light changed. His driver's mirror clipped my passenger mirror. I thought the poor guy was going to have a heart attack. I gave him a thumbs-up and pulled on out as he sat there watching his insurance rates go up. Poor guy was still sitting there as I pulled out of sight.

Many years ago, I was driving my GMC Jimmy (old one - what is now a Yukon) in Germany going through a construction zone on the Autobahn. I was in the left lane and started passing a truck in the right lane. My passenger mirror could not clear its driver's mirror. I had to drive alongside that truck until we cleared the construction zone and the road widened back out. Cars behind me were pissed!

Went thru the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel last month and it was tight to say the least. The DW is scared enough anyway so she had to lay her head down on the seat til we got clear.

I have gotten in this situation going through Houston , which is always under construction. When it gets so narrow that I worry about scraping the concrete barriers, I drive right down the middle, No one gets around until I get out of the construction area. Even a ticket would be cheaper then repairs to your rig.
