TV Cable Trouble Shooting Help
I'm staying at a campground that offers TV cable. In all my years of camping, I've only had this provided once before. I'm in my Class C Greyhawk.
I'm pretty sure the last time, I ran my coax cable from the campground pedestal to the coax connector in my RV. My coax connector is located in the same storage bin as my electrical power cable.
From my TV's menu, I pick "live TV", and scan for cable channels. I get nothing. For the input selections, I chose antenna. My choices are antenna, HDMI 1,2,3, composite and media.
I feel I'm missing something obvious. Any ideas on what to try next? I did a search of this forum and nothing related popped up.

Do you have the antenna booster off?

I've tried with the booster on and off, and it makes no difference.
I think its the campground's source is the problem. I just ran a coax cable direct from the pedestal to the back of my TV and nothing.

Actually, I cannot recall the routine, but, it sounds like your current routine is selecting over the air and scanning for those channels. And, yes if your booster is on, it won't work. You do not want antenna. That is OTA.

The web says some TV's have a secondary selection under Antenna for cable, can you toggle on that?

I don't remember the specific process, but I'm thinking after the third try, I now have "cable". The picture is very "snowy". This give me more incentive to go with Starlink.

That could be a loose coax connection.

Prices are down too. We switched from Cable to streaming via Starlink in the RV. Pretty doggone nice.
The back TV got replaced with a Best Buy branded Insignia that's streaming ready. For the front TV, it's the $29 Firestick.

A final update. Cable source at this campground is poor, but I get 48 channels..
This is how I set up my Insignia brand TV, with built in Firestick. Under settings I chose "Live TV", where I scanned for channels. There was an Advanced Options under channel scan. I chose Cable, vs digital or analog. My antennae was switch off.
All the channels advertised by the campground are available, but grainy. I double checked all the coax connections I could find and they were tight.

I have a 2021 Jayco TT. Antenna TV (Shark Fin) has never really worked good. I could never get "Cable" TV to work for the few times it was available. I bought a cable tester and all checked out perfectly. I swapped out the TV that came with it and got a smart TV. I connect that to the parks Wifi or I have a ATT hot spot that works excellet. Outside I have a dumb TV with a fire stick and that works even better. I find smart TV's to be slower. We dont really watch TV other than sports or news

Make sure your fax is connected to the cable input in your tv cabinet. We have a couple different inputs, antenna, cable or satellite if your connected to something other than cable your signal won’t come thru the unit from the connection outside into the coach. Good luck

Thought. Try and just barely plug in the cable connection. I've had some places where the complete connection(ground) screwed up the signal. I know this sounds daft, but if you can get just the center copper wire to make contact without the ground, you might get a better signal. I retired after 50 plus years in radio/tv/audio/video .. And still get amazed with issues and fixes of older technology!

Did you turn off your wingard button for your antenna it should be in the cupbard close to the stairway over over the top of it then run channel search on cable

I just recently had the same problem in our FW. Couldn't get cable channel by using your process. Ever TV is different, we have a smart Fire TV. I found out that when I went to the "Scan" for channels there was an "Advanced" tab to the right of the scan tab. I had to click the advanced, then go to the Scan for cable option in the advanced scan tab.
There were also options to scan both digital & analog tv channels when using the antenna. That gets you a lot more channels on the antenna.
