US route 2

Has anyone taken US 2 from Michigan out to Glazier National park?
We were wondering how RV friendly it was and the condition of the road. Our last trip we took I-90 and were not impressed. Also was wondering about the
availability of RV parks etc. Thanks

Did that trip 5 years ago, to the best of my memory it was fine. We casino camped mostly, but you'd best have reservations near glacier. 4th of july road just opened when we arrived the first week of July. Beautiful park, great hiking. Worst part of trip was rain driving near Willston ND, fracking was going on and the mud residue from the drilling equipment going down hwy 2 was the hardest stuff I have ever tried to wash off my truck and rv.

If I recall correctly you have to make reservations to get into certain parts of Glacier. FYI

Shokyle1 is correct, you have to get a day pass to get into Glacier (I believe it is good for several days). Go to the National Parks website to obtain. We were there in September 2021 staying at St Mary. The day pass was instituted to help manage the volume of traffic on the Going To The Sun Road. The park is amazing. Be sure to get a guided bus tour using either Red Bus Tours or the local Blackfeet Indian Sun Tours. We recommend the Sun Tours.

Go to https://www.recreation.gov/ and Login or create an Account. Then in the Search field paste the following: Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor 3-Day Vehicle Reservations. It gives the Dates Available & what date you can purchase. It is good for 3 days.

A Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor Vehicle Reservation is required for each vehicle accessing the Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor Reservation Area from May 27 through September 11, 2022, from 6 am to 4 pm. If you cannot get a pass, get up early & be at the Entrance station around 5 am

Camjam, here you go:
We went from AZ to Glacier, to Minot, to middle of WI & then south. For the US 2 leg:
stayed outside of Glacier at : Mountain View RV Park | 3621 MT Hwy 40 W, Columbia Falls, Montana, 59912 | 406-892-2500 between July 6th - 9th. had a 60' pull-through & cost at the time was $65.00 / night. No issues at camp ground. We could not get the Road to the sun pass, no matter how hard we tried. BUT the park service (at the time) lined people up starting at 3:30 PM & let groups go at 4 PM. We did the road that way. If you can get a pass, great, if not, check into that option. Note that I, & others coming the other way, had to fold the mirrors "in" on our trucks to keep from clipping each other. It is a narrow road. Also, going at that later time allowed us to see many of the mountain Goats at the summit & the sunset on our way back down.

Heading East we stayed in Glasgow, it was a easy day drive from Columbia Falls to there. : Cottonwood Inn & Suites 54250 US Highway 2, Glasgow, MT 59230 Phone (406) 228-8213 or (800) 321-8213. It is a Hotel, but they have a RV park in the back with a building that has laundry, bathrooms & showers. Not a fancy park, but good for a stop for the night & level easy pull-throughs. Rate at the time was $43.00 / night.

In Minot, we stayed on the Airforce base, so can not help you with that one. But the road across was in very good shape & it was again an easy day drive from Glasgow to there. Pay attention to your range, as towns are spread far apart. Also, if running Diesel, ensure you have your own DEF, as many places when we went through did not have any on hand at that time. So that would be hit or miss.
